Yeah

The US is an innovation, manufacturing, soft and hard power superpower. They will remain the world's largest economy for the foreseeable future. Canada will continue to see its standard of living drop in relation to the USA's GDP growth until more pragmatic government can take power in this country. The Liberals stoke fear and division - that is their playbook for electoral success and too many Canadians get suckered in by it - Like I said before the Boomer generation is keeping them in power - almost every other demographic in Canada wants change but the large Boomer demographic that watches Pravda (I mean the CBC) and lives in fear and believes the Liberals lies will keep this rotten government in power. Its killing Canada and shows how weak a nation we have become.
I don't know where Canada's standard of living is headed, but it's probably going to stay roughly the same. Maybe it goes up or down a bit. The US on the other hand might be "an innovation, manufacturing, soft and hard power superpower" today but they are headed for decline. Even after Trump is gone, he's done irreparable damage. It's not even Trump directly, also the fact that the world got to see 70 million people re-elect him after the previous gong show.

In a more inflationary environment, which the Orange Menace in the US seems to be taking various determined steps to creating, resource producing countries do well economically and of course Canada has a lots of resources.

Copper and other metals are doing very well. Our gold companies are making lots of money now, well like they own gold mines!

Interesting. Lest we forget he also served under a PM who had no experience in elected politics before he became party leader.

Also that PM integrated Canada much closer to the US, which is leading to some of the problems we have now.

So perhaps his cheap shots about errors by a rookie PM could well apply to the one he served too.

Carney has not delivered - he uses TDS and the bought and paid for mainstream media to draw attention away from his failings. Never in this countries history was a new government needed after the utter debacle of Trudeau. But the TDS Boomer crowed, the equity generation, keeps Carney and libs in power. I guess you want more stagnant GDP growth, more catch and release crime polices, more inflation, more debt, no pipelines to get our number one (by a mile) export commodities to new markets, more lax immigration policies, more corruption, more division etc etc. Oh sorry I forgot its all Trump's fault (and oops I forgot - PP and the Cons are MAGA traitors). Its going to get worse before it gets better - if eastern Canadians equity boomers (and "progressive" "educated" lefties who get their news from CBC and CTV) vote in another Liberal government this country is toast.

Norman Spector is a very astute political commentator - far more insightful than the one sided Liberal propaganda machine that Andrew Coyne and the CBC have become. This country is basically divided down the middle between cons vs libs but the state run tax payer funded CBC is so blatantly one sided it would even impress Stalin. Even if I was a liberal I would be embarrassed by the CBC, CTV etc. This country is on thin ice - and experienced politicos like Norman Spector can see what's happening. I guess the Equity Boomers care more about Minnesota, Trump and spending their days listening to "At Issue" and talking with their buddies at Tim Horton's how they will defend against the Yankee invasion - while the Chinese CCP infiltrate our country. They are completely clueless - and the CBC makes it seem all so real to them.

So "that PM integrated Canada much closer to the US, which is leading to some of the problems we have now" - So simplistic analysis. Canada should integrate closely with the largest economy in the world, an economy that needs our natural resources. Its not "that PMs" fault that the Liberals decided to target Canada's most profitable industry (O&G) and pass disriminatory laws aimed at Alberta and O&G but not at other provinces or industries. Ontario branch plant economy and Quebec's reliance on sellling power to New York and getting subsidized to the tune of 13 billion a year is not "that PMs" fault. The Liberals have been in power in this country far more often than the Cons and the last 15 years have been a disaster for economic growth, trade issues, immigration, crime etc etc etc. But lets keeping blaming everyone except the Liberals - that makes no sense. Too many dimwitted hysterical equity Boomers bought the whole "elbows up" nonsense and the country is paying a very steep price for this ignorance.

As one of those boomers who supported Carney over your apple munching PP (and who would spoil my ballot before voting for JT) you’re not going to make me change my mind no matter how many consecutive insults you string together in as many consecutive posts as you choose to make.

My opinion of Carney is based on my knowledge of his prior experiences and performances and on his policies and ability to implement them. PP can crunch as many apples as he wants while insulting the people he’s talking to but until he presents actual policies and a plan to execute them that are better than Carney’s he’ll never get my vote. I strongly suspect that will be never and that’s coming from a traditional PC voter.

PS My “boomer vote” Is worth just as much as yours - but no more and no less than yours - and vice versa. Get over it.

He's one angry man; I suspect your measured response won't do much. All that vitriol needs an outlet it seems.

At least I didn't call Gretzky a "traitor" and advocate to have all things named for him removed from Edmonton. In the years I've been on this forum I have read awful things written about Premier Smith, UCP supporters, rural Albertans, Wayne Gretzky, calling PP "MAGA" etc etc etc. But when I start calling people on this and start pushing back against the ridiculous TDS and nonsensical support for a terrible libertal government - I get told I'm "an angry man". More unsurprising passive aggressive behaviour from most people on this forum. They love to dish it out - but can't handle the truth when so much evidence goes against their nonsensical woke beliefs. Many of this forum have proudly stated that they have blocked me. I block no one.
