The man needs to settle on one (1) last name! 😅

Honestly, this matters. Can I see a Premier Erskine-Smith? I can certainly imagine a Premier Nate Smith or a Premier Erskine. Every little detail matters when trying to win the support of such a wide tapestry of personalities and nitpickiness in the broader electorate.
Agree, it's cumbersome. My own son has a hyphenated last name, and it bugs the hell out of me...

And there you have it, Nate Erskin-Smith confirming my point about how a name is important in politics, particularly when seeking a top job.

He’s going by NATE and just Nate. Not an Erskin, a Smith or a hyphen anywhere to be seen.

Mike Crawley suddenly dropped out despite having begun building a winning leadership machine with 150 volunteers and serious money. The reason being "leaked" to the press behind "anonymous sources" is that he declined to run to be with his family. That's something you say after you have to retire from politics before skeletons make their way out of the closet. Looks to me like Crawley failed the opposition research test.

Ford has been acting out his Premier of Toronto persona a bit too heavily lately, spending political capital as much as he spends Ontarian taxpayer dollars. Few in Toronto or out of Toronto are happy for opposing reasons. I'm seeing a soon to be irreversible path building up ahead: Whoever wins the Liberal leadership race is likely to be the next Premier.

So, is it too soon to start the "Premier Nate Erskin-Smith's Ontario" thread?

In every photo I see Erskin-Smith is scruffy, unshaven and looking bewildered. If this fellow approached me I’d assume it’s to ask for a handout…. perhaps that’s just an honest politician? Anyway, get a shave and a stylist/tailor if you’re going to leave the house.

I like it.

It shows that he is down to earth, focused on mainstream concerns rather than putting on an image for re-election.

It is not about how you dress, it is about what actions you take. You can wear a $5000.00 suit but if everything you do is solely so you can get re-elected that's not my cup of tea.

I've never understood the point of hyphenated last names. I remember back in university in the 1990s a classmate changed her last name from her father's to a hyphenated combination of her father and mother's last names. I asked her why the recent change, and she said it was paternalistic to have just her father's name. She was annoyed when I replied that she's now named after her father and grandfather.

...hopefully a hyphenated name is his only "sin".

This looks like someone who is about to run for leadership of a provincial party to take on Doug Ford. I don’t know, any openings?

I honestly don't think the province is evolved enough to see past a dastar, especially with all the anti-indian rhetoric in the last 2 years, and their perception of Jagmeet federally.

It's not even just the anti-Indian rhetoric amongst everyone else but also the anti-Sikh rhetoric within the Indian diaspora, as well. Multiple hills to climb unfortunately.

How about the anti-Roger sentiments amongst everyone?
