Here's some further info on the tank consolidation decision. https://canadianarmytoday.com/tank-centralization-a-bridge-to-the-armys-future-armoured-capability/
You don’t have to.Yes they do……YEG, YYC and YWG are always lumped together….who cares anyway…why are we talking about this now?
I say this every single year, but can someone please explain to me why we do not do a major cleaning, power washing, bannering and overall tidy PRIOR to national and international media arriving for the Stanley Cup playoffs?
A few sweepers have been out, but generally the Downtown looks pretty bad still.
Do we simply not care? Is there no one leading this and ensuring that PRE-major events that this happens?
It's so disheartening.
But hey! Sidewalks on 50th Street that ZERO people use north of Argyle have been swept for 10days nowTo be fair, BIAs are prioritized and Downtown has had one or two passes in some areas, but largely initial ones without sidewalks swept, blvds done etc.
We knew playoffs were coming and should have JUMPED all over key areas to make them look and feel great for visitors and game-goers, let alone NHL folks and media who continue to have reasons not to bring other NHL related events here due to how our city looks/feels.
IMO the most frustrating is this should have been identified and highlighted as a priority by both Explore Edmonton and Edmonton Global... you know, the publicly funded orgs who have specific mandates to make our city more appealing to visitors, whether tourists or for business. It’s like we’re hosting a backyard wedding at our house, and not only have we not gone the extra mile with decor, hospitality, and thoughtfulness, but we’ve also forgotten to cut the grass and sweep the sidewalk out front. The grass still has some pee patches and there’s a plastic bag stuck on a tree branch.
info@exploreedmonton.com^ this timeless post still nails it:

Part of the problem is there is really only one or two councillors downtown and one doesn't seem to be much of an advocate for it.But hey! Sidewalks on 50th Street that ZERO people use north of Argyle have been swept for 10days now
I have no skin the game since I don’t pay CoE taxes, but can’t someone on here email their DT councillor's?
