    Finch West Line 6 LRT

A niche of Toronto transit advocates are dead set against subways/ grade separated metros because they subconciously associate them with Rob Ford.

Good! So upgrading Line 5 to match the Ontario Line is a very real possibility.

Consider how the city had to expand capacity at Bloor & Yonge. And now look at how busy Eglinton & Yonge is already getting.

Of course it's undersized! This is what the subway crowd has been arguing for a decade! But the pro-LRT folks insisted that ridership along Eglinton didn't warrant a subway. The response now is "add a third car to each train". That will maybe hold us out for another year. Wait till more...

That sounds extremely counterproductive. By having no access to utilities, MX will have to charge less rent to whomever takes over these retail spaces. Who are they expecting to attract to these spaces? Newspaper vendors? One would think that part of the business approach to building a transit...

    Mississauga Toronto | Hurontario-Main Line 10 LRT | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx

Why do some Mississauga city councilors seem so interested with getting construction started on the downtown loop when the original line appears to be in complete disarray?

I'm more concerned about the contractor that was hired to construct this line (Mobilinx). If it's true that they're financial underwater, and their credit rating is near "junk" level, then I'm worried the finished product will be of very low quality.

Are you proposing this to be a GO train line? I could see something like this being more viable as it's own subway/ metro line. Wouldn't have the Barrie and Richmond Hill GO lines going around it.

Was thinking the same. It's great to see it beating out the traffic, however, if it were travelling faster it would make more of a statement to drivers.

What would you think of including a branch line extending to Mimico from Roncesvalles? Adding a stop at Park Lawn. Perhaps extending it all the way to Humber College on Lakeshore?

I've been told that Line 5 & 6 use different voltage. So I would think that it's not possible for Alstom Citadis units to run on Line 5?

    Finch West Line 6 LRT

I mean, that's part of the problem, isn't it? They don't want to acknowledge there are issues with the trains. I'm sure behind closed doors and during private phone calls they discuss all the issues with the trains. They just don't talk about them publicly. I would imagine most politicians...

    That's basically Line 6.

    Finch West Line 6 LRT

Alstom didn't want to make the Citadis Spirit. They advised against it, but Ottawa City Council wouldn't listen and insisted on a train that was low to the ground while operating as a Metro. Alstom warned them that no such train had ever been built before. This is probably why Alstom is less...
