CN still runs frieght trains up to King City on the Barrie line to serve a lumber mill. They also still serve customers on the Metrolinx owned portion of LSW. So it's not like you could setup the overhead electrical infrastructure for these lines, even though they're owned by Metrolinx. I could...

You're probably right. I'm guessing Metrolinx has no desire to go through the trouble of installing and miantaining all the overhead infrastructure that would come with electric trains. The plan is probably to extend the lifespan of the diesel locomotives and hope that battery powered trains...

That was pretty much the point I was making. It doesn't mean anything when government agency claims they're going to do something in 10 years when, at a minimum, there will be two elections cycles that could result in a new government being elected and the 10 year plan/ vision being completely...

The thing to remember about these far off deadlines is that Metrolinx is a government agency. Everything can change if a new Premier/ political party wins the next election. Metrolinx's 15 year vision could completely change.

I would imagine CN would have a vested interested in grade separating the diamond. They were quick to remove the rail diamond west of Brampton GO after the OBR was shut down because apparently rail diamonds cause extra wear & tear on the wheels.

With the Province's recent purchase of track from CN, I hope the two parties have also had discussions about grade separating the Doncaster diamond. Similar to the Davenport diamond.

I was thinking more along the lines of running a parallel running Transitway. With the 403 in Mississauga, you could scrap the HOV lanes, widen the road to eight general purpose lanes, and have the Mississauga Transitway running parallel to the highway. Not a fan of the bus shoulder lanes...

Agreed. I think money would be better spent on building bus lanes rather than HOV lanes.

I think what threw me off was the word "talent". I was thinking they were referring to actual DB staff. If by "talent" we're talking about mechanics, then yes, that makes more sense and is definitely an issue.
