I can see why they were rejected... it looks so complex just to make a turn, not to mention doubling up on the signalling for LRT crossing.

the condition of the vehicles are really down to the individuals who service them. i still blame the organization for putting them into that situation where they are obliged to maintain these relics.

I wonder if the 90 operators and the 20 trainers can be trained to operate together at the same time and then the 20 do additional instructor training? I have feeling this may be a big bottleneck at the home stretch, especially if version 7 of the software is unsuccessful

True but I think it's something that is unavoidable unless there's a lot of surplus rolling stock to bring in while the affected interiors are cleaned. It's more of a culture thing overseas. You don't see japan having vandalized trains becuase they value rail as the pride of their culture...

wouldnt that be more of an issue of security of the MSFs over the actual quality of their service? its not like vandals are tagging while the train is in service. this is all overnight work.

so by summers end it should be 100% complete then (35% in 3 months to 85% in June) How many patches do they think theyll need? progress looks good; hopefully they can divert more resources as stations are signed off wowsers! what is taking so long?! how is this different from occupancy certs?

Well with all day service and 15 or better min peaks 14 car trains aren't really required anymore I would say.

that is honestly a very LOW bar to gloat on. Amtrak isnt exactly the pillar of amazing or pristine service. N American passenger rail in general lags behind even some african and south asian countries when it comes to service/cleanliness

Well we saw those leaked shots of that alstom go electric loco... it'll be a new bespoke loco either way. Thunder bay has had experience with multilevels being used for emus. I have a feeling f that they didn't even consider it.

I'm surprised they actually didn't go with it. It's a turn key solution to waste 900 bi levels

Honestly I think there was an opportunity to convert bilevel cars to power cars and make d/emus from the existing trainsets. We would just need to order more cab cars. That's what they're doing in New jersey

Yea but look how watered down the vision has fallen to reality. It's not like the vision was outlandish or utopian. It was strictly about money

Danforth Line 2 Scarborough Subway Extension

iirc didnt the regs allow for either beefed up bodies or PTC? if thats true its more now on the fact that the railroads are just too lazy or penny pinchers to outfit their lines with preventative safety devices and are just relying on others to provide reactive safeties aka CEM.

    Toronto Toronto | Ontario Line 3 | ?m | ?s

yea but one has to realise that they are living in a metropolis and they cant be living in a suburban or rural fauna environment permanently. cities grow and sometimes trees need to make way for development. as long as theres a decent landscape especially if theres a replanting plan then its all...
