    Roads to Avoid

I was in Vancouver a month ago, and it was horrible on the weekend let alone rush hour. I'd take Edmonton's worst over Vancouver's average anyday. We are paying for our excess road capacity either with taxes or poor roads though.

    LRT Safety

Every intersection is a crosswalk unless there are signs prohibiting it. Low floor was chosen because of its ability to integrate with communities without barriers, so by that standard someone should be able to cross on 79 Ave, 80 Ave, and 81 Ave as they did before. If not, they should fence it...

    LRT Expansion Planning

Phase 2 is in land acquisition and preliminary design stage. I don't expect construction to start until 2027-28 at earliest for 2033-34 completion so there is time to modify the plans.

    LRT Expansion Planning

I also think elevated down 97 St is the way to go. Nothing's built yet, re-rendering is easy. You capture Northgate and the denser part of Griesbach, it can shape the redevelopment of the north end of Griesbach, then curve left to Castle Downs. It's too bad Eaux Claires is so close yet so far...

    Terwillegar Drive Expansion

If I had to take a stab at being a structural engineer, the existing piers can handle the additional shear forces so the additional pier only has to deal with compressive forces vs. the MUP piers have to deal with compressive and shear forces which was calculated to be greater than compressive...

    LRT Safety

I don't know if I agree with this. So fare paying passengers not only have to worry about their safety or being exposed to drugs being cooked on transit, they have to worry about being fined $250 for a no harm no foul situation? Put a fence up if they don't want people crossing the tracks.

Spruce Grove has Bird scooters already!

    Edmonton | Valley Line LRT/ Valley Line West | ?m | ?s | City of Edmonton

I think it'll be shovels to the ground for Phase 2 Blatchford to Castledowns in 2027-28 after the two current extension projects are substantially complete. Barring any new anti-transit city government. The budget for the next 3 years cannot accommodate a third concurrent major LRT extension...

Keep 102 Ave closed to vehicles

Given the traffic volume on 102 Ave can't be any more than 1,000 vehicles per day just based on my observations, the number of some of the infractions is staggering.

    Parking, Parking, Parking

Yay, service charges no one asked for. I guess they'd rather we use expensive pay stations that are subject to malfunctions and vandalism. (Says the person who ends up paying 35-50 cents to not have to walk to and waste time at a pay station)

Quarry Ridge - Strathcona County Pedestrian Footbridge | ?m | ?s | River Valley Alliance

It's one thing if they're trying to limit access to keep it safe, but all the visual barriers they've put in on both sides of the river have been interesting. Maybe a bike ride as far up as possible on the river valley trail?

    Capital Line LRT

These right turn things. They're often dangerous not only for pedestrians but also among other drivers. There's a high crash rate because of the deep shoulder check to the left required while in motion. Removing them completely would be the safest thing to do, but in suburbia where we do have...

    Capital Line LRT

And they're modernizing the ones at 23 Ave with the safer design.
