They can also take the bus. Obviously it would be ideal if a location near LRT was chosen, but the City doesn't really have a say in the matter. Between this and no hospital I'd pick the former any day. Heck, maybe it'll convince the city to upgrade the SW BRT to LRT.

I don't think lack of LRT access is a huge issue -- kids won't be taking the train to the hospital on their own (I hope). If need be the 31 BRT runs right past the proposed site -- fairly straightforward to add an additional stop there.

Not really, since Metro Line has a bunch of grade crossings that buses will be stuck waiting at. For Options 1 and 2, the bus stops at 111 / 118 will service Royal Alex and NAIT respectively, so it's not like any major destinations are being missed. Any connections missed by not stopping at...

It was mentioned in the Mass transit study, there was some discussion a couple pages back. It is the converse -- i.e. this rebuild has bearing on a University Ave grade separation, at least in the near future. This is an explicit lesson learnt from the West Edmonton Mall transit centre debacle.
