If I were looking at Toronto from Mars, I’d say: extend Line 4 with two branches — one to Malvern and one to the Toronto Zoo. I’d also push to extend Line 5 to Eglinton GO (even acknowledging why that’s now difficult). Let the LRT handle the in-between, though I’m not convinced it would perform...
I can see Ford announcing the Line 5 extension to YYZ prior to the end of the current mandate. Line 6, I'm not convinced is even that needed, especially with a UPX stop at Woodbine GO.
I might be getting a bit ahead of myself, but with Line 5 finally opening, I’ve started wondering about the western extension. Has the TTC released any information on likely bus route changes once it opens? The main alignment has been known for years now, which is why I’m asking at this stage.
Yup — we’re entering an era with two competing map systems, sometimes even within the same station, like Finch West. The TTC map should show regional routes too, even if in a lighter hue like Montreal does.
I'm not against one here, I'm not sure where it would go though. But to say we should have one because GCT does, is a bit odd. The base of the federal building could work and still be in the vicinity. The Well too, albeit not really in the vicinity.
I might be up for a UT weekend to Timmins and/or Cochrane. It doesn’t need to be the first train. I’ve never been to either, and realistically probably won’t again—just a thought.
