Some interesting stuff in this article. Sounds like a new stadium in 10 to 15 years is still very much on the table. https://www.theglobeandmail.com/sports/article-as-sports-teams-grab-billions-in-taxpayer-funding-for-stadiums-blue/?utm_source=dlvr.it&utm_medium=twitter

When the story broke a few years ago about a new Jays stadium, I was all for it. Very happy to knock the dome down and build something new. But I have to say, post renovations, I think I actually agree with you. The fan experience is night and day, and visually it's far far improved. Plus...

As someone who goes to about 10-15 games a year, the outfield renos made a massive aesthetic difference. Watching a game out there feels completely unlike the previous iteration of the Dome. A lot less heralded, but the improved fake turf and new infield cut out (done a few years ago) has made...

If they go through with the University Park idea, there would be an amazing opportunity to really emphasise that side of the building.

If you took me back to when Doug Ford was a city councillor and told me that he'll be the Premier who actually gets the relief line started (more or less) I would have thought you were nuts.

Sheppard Line 4 Subway Extension (Proposed)

Is there a reason why Line 4 extension proposals don't have the line veering north slightly to intersect with Agincourt GO to allow for an easy transfer there? I guess cost prohibitive?

I think we underestimate how strong support tends to be for the Jays when they're good. Jays were 8th in MLB in attendance this year, ahead of a lot of better performing teams playing in nicer stadiums. I think attendance will probably hold more or less as long as the team is going for it, then...

The 100 level infield seats of most baseball stadiums look pretty similar. There's really only so much you can do (Make sure seats are angled toward the infield, better seats etc), it's not really a place to do something quirky. The outfield was the opportunity to do something distinct (which...

    Toronto Love Park | 3m | 1s | City of Toronto | CCxA

My two thoughts after looking at the pics are 1) looks really great, can't wait to visit 2) man I wish we could knock down that above ground parking lot to the south.

    SmartTrack (Proposed)

The basic concept of subway style service along the rail corridors doesn't seem bad to me. Why did that concept fall apart? We're essentially just getting a few GO stations within the city limits now, correct?

I've lost a lot of respect for Miller since he started arguing that a downtown subway line isn't necessary. That's the kind of nonsense Rob Ford was saying 10 years ago.

Yeah, I feel like the 100 level rendering here is just a placeholder. If there's one thing I'm *certain* they'll do with the 100 level renovations, it's that they're going to reorient all the seats to face home plate (as opposed to now where the seats down the outfield lines look toward the...

Got out to a game - have to say, I thought the renos were GREAT in person. The outfield feels like a completely different place than it used to, and I think people will enjoy it whether they are a big baseball fan or just loosely curious. I recommend checking it out - had an awesome time.

Ten years ago I was desperate for a new stadium, as a big Jays fan. But they've improved it so much, that I'm surprised at how much I've come around to the idea of sticking with the place, and doing a couple more major renos down the line instead.

Shapiro has essentially confirmed grass is not happening in this stadium. The cost would be so great to figure out drainage etc it just wouldn't be worth it. To be honest, I don't think most fans really care about the turf anymore. I know I don't. Kind of an old talking point. It looks *so*...
