Agreed. This is a labour shortage on a human workforce. Human beings are essential to running good service, but are prone to overworking. A resilient organization would have contingency staffing, but able to operate with differing levels of experience. I dunno, public railroads should be...

    QEW - Mississauga/Credit River Project

Finally got an email back about the ped bridge. Unsigned message from the project email (info@qewcreditriver.ca):

Well I don't know what to believe. I got an email from Metrolinx this morning that completely contradicted this.

For me, it's Kitchener line service to Guelph. We just bloody got weekend trains and they scratched them until the 5th.

    East Don Trail Project

This is correct, but @StreetcarRider is not wrong for being stumped on what that meant. That's not a useful or specific name. I puzzled over it myself for a few minutes.

GO Transit: Construction Projects (Metrolinx, various)

Yes, but my message was prompted by forthcoming bridge replacements between Kitchener and Guelph. Ultimately, such a route should be in place for any other disruptions and augmenting offpeak service. Getting to Kitchener has been long treated as an offshoot of Milton corridor service as if...

GO Transit: Construction Projects (Metrolinx, various)

Yes, the problem is it does not connect with central Kitchener, and you'd have to connect with a local bus (15min frequency on weekday core, 30 min on weekends) that does not take Presto or other open payment.

Seems like an excellent time to implement a GO bus route directly between Kitchener GO and Guelph GO, to bridge the gap.

GO Transit Fleet Equipment and other

I'd be surprised if they didn't. IIRC that was an aftermarket addition to GO buses after a Coach Canada driver fatally ran over a pedestrian in Guelph.

And maybe that's where the fed could play a better role. VIA is using a Metrolinx corridor. Maybe there should be an interprovincial agreement on what the ultimate form should be to enable 15 minute GO, and high-speed VIA (4+ GO and 2 VIA?)... Ah, that sounds too hard though.

    QEW - Mississauga/Credit River Project

So I walked along the hydro corridor going through here, completely forgetting that the construction was probably not yet complete. I looked at the website and now see there's a "fall 2025" newsletter update. It makes it sound like the trails are open now? Did I literally miss this by a...

I'll take the blame for starting it, I cited the Finch experience as a proxy for Eglinton

    Toronto Toronto | Eglinton Line 5 | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | Arcadis

After seeing a post yesterday of all the unfinished pieces on Line 6's opening day, it doesn't give me great confidence in Eglinton. Many are cosmetic pieces, but a couple made me wince.

It's inconsequential, but boy, it's baffling they did not future-proof this. TRs started being manufactured in 2008, 1 year after the Crosstown was announced.

We should start tracking this in a spreadsheet.
