    General railway discussions

I think that's an interesting socioeconomic and statistical question, and I think you'd need a lot of data and professional analysis to find the answer. And even then, I think there'd be much to debate. External factors and transit-driven growth are both at play, and the degree which they are a...

GO Transit: Construction Projects (Metrolinx, various)

Well if we could play SimCity, this would be my proposal.

Post your pictures of Toronto here!

    From my walk on Sunday.

I thought you were talking about the Bowmanville flyover across the 401 for a sec, I think the studies for that were finished in 2011.

Looks like the river pushed that blue seacan onto the tracks.

The rain that fell was spread throughout the day, 2013 was a large intense dump. Definitely creates a different response and allows some of the vegetated areas to retain some of the water. It's still a significant response due to Toronto's urbanization and lack of stormwater quantity controls...

GO Transit: Construction Projects (Metrolinx, various)

Well at least it won't take major modifications to the bridge, appears that was already roughed in.

GO Transit: Construction Projects (Metrolinx, various)

I'm seeing the track work in Acton for RFP in Q3, but this makes it sound like they're going to start working with Waterloo Region to build the Mobility Hub at King Street in Kitchener?! Didn't think that was happening anytime soon. I'm also hopeful the Georgetown Go works will include a...

Amazing, it's like the High Park Playground on steroids.

I second the daycares. I am tied to a car because I have no GO service to get me to work, but also the daycare is on the way. If I could do daycare dropoff on my way to catch the train... Make AirBnB build their own stock.

There's probably one buried in the detailed design (civil construction) plans.

Speaking of the Guelph siding, some (non-)progress pictures from today. Retaining wall has been done for a long time, but the ballast and track assemblies still lay piled.

GO Transit: Construction Projects (Metrolinx, various)

The vision was 3 tracks to Galloway, but future-proofing for 4 tracks to Durham Junction. A future third track was also planned east of there to the Bowmanville extension, interchangeably being shoehorned north of the Kingston Sub and overtaking the northern CN track and building a new one for...

Hopefully it goes better than Yonge-Dundas. https://www.thestar.com/opinion/contributors/i-was-on-the-advisory-committee-to-rename-yonge-dundas-square-heres-where-it-all/article_aa5f64d0-33f1-11ef-abf2-abb98c8b4400.html

I think a huge patch of green has the best chance of catching someone's eye rather than more concrete and steel measures in an already busy visual environment.

    Toronto Toronto | Ontario Line 3 | ?m | ?s

After what happened on the Crosstown, I have no faith this would happen, but my vote would be "Eglinton-Don", renaming Line 4's east terminus to "Don-Sheppard".

I'm late to the party here, but isn't grass the best low-cost mitigation here? is this a section slated for grass, given the concrete isn't flush with the rails for emergency access?

Ashbridges Bay Treatment Plant Landform Project

And here I thought the whole perimeter was going to be public access. That's a little disappointing...guess I have some updates to make to my datasets.

407 Rail Freight Bypass/The Missing Link

With the privatization of booze, the days for LCBO calling North Toronto Station are limited. The odd sale of a 5-figure bottle of liquor cannot keep it financially viable. Would usher in an opportunity to transition it back to a station... Okay I'm just trolling now.
