Canada at the 2026 Milano Cortina: Winter Olympics

The basis isn't that they're indoors - the basis is that the Summer Olympics has X number of athletes and sports and the Winter Olympics has far fewer. For the sake of marketing, broadcasting, etc. it may be in the interest of the IOC to either balance more or move some from Summer for...

Alto - High Speed Rail (Toronto-Quebec City)

Think it's difficult to be this hyperbolic when they haven't gone public with any decisions yet.

Canada at the 2026 Milano Cortina: Winter Olympics

I'm wondering why that love for field hockey hasn't transitioned into ice hockey, since they're already great and obsessed with skating. Anyway. IIRC some of our sliding athletes have to pay their own way to the Olympics because we don't have/don't provide the funding for them. I can't remember...

    TTC: Other Items (catch all)

You can try r/Toronto if you're still looking to find out what happened. That place feels like a good missed connections spot at times. What would you like beyond NEXT BUS 5 MINS ?

Alto - High Speed Rail (Toronto-Quebec City)

Thank you for your thoughts, Deputy Mayor of Tweed. This would be exceptionally dumb to do, though; HSR is not meant as a replacement for local and regional trains. They should work in tandem to service both larger and smaller centres in between. Like I said previously, if we're aiming to have...

Toronto BMO Field Renovations (FIFA26) | MLSE | Gensler

This is because their sport interests, rugby and cricket, point more towards larger outdoor stadiums. If ice hockey wasn't an indoor event with arenas this country would be littered with 50K+ venues for them. Think about how many and how much we spend on arenas and transfer that into stadiums...

Why I prefaced my post saying that the idea of a larger stadium in Toronto is discussed outside of just NFL circles. This attitude does us no good and is a good reason why we've ended up where we have.

Toronto BMO Field Renovations (FIFA26) | MLSE | Gensler

This is a very active conversation in soccer circles but runs into two issues: 1) CMNT/CWNT don't really need a large-scale venue of that size. BMO is right-sized and BC Place right-sized for larger crowds. 2) The usual anti-Toronto rhetoric from everyone else about how a "national stadium"...

Toronto BMO Field Renovations (FIFA26) | MLSE | Gensler

The problem with multi-sport venues is that they're average at everything and great at nothing. It's not tailored to soccer, or football, or concerts. A frankenstein for all three and great for none of them. Maybe the Habs might be able to host an "outdoor" game once the renovations are...

    Premier Doug Ford's Ontario

I'm surprised people still believe this. Harper won a majority fifteen years ago with only five Quebec seats that was before further seat additions outside of QC. In fact, so warped are some of the electorate that DoFo would probably receive more votes in some corners if he refused to learn...

On that note, one of the most famous football stadiums in the world, Estadio Azteca in Mexico City, has been closed for two years for renovations for the World Cup. And this is after renovations undertaken between 2015 and 2019. Stadiums are always renovating for the WC.

I'm afraid not many stretches in the city beat the Daldongnae Zanzibar Shelby's Ali Baba's stretch found here.

Rec'd my notice in the mail last week. Likely won't be in town for the meeting but would have loved to poke my head in.
