    Calgary Transit

Putting the Red Line u/g is a lot of money for little gain. It would shorten trip times, but increase time getting in and out of the stations and it won’t increase ridership, and would likely decrease it. A fair number of people use the train to go back and forth downtown as it’s so easy to hop...

None of the 4 endpoints badly need extensions, but NE and Deep South would be my choices. Both areas are growing rapidly.

    Calgary Transit

The Max lines are still in their infancy and ridership has been increasing. Max Orange is now all day with intervals of 8.5min peak and 10min off peak on weekdays, which isn’t much different than Edmonton’s Valley line. I wouldn’t say it’s good money chasing bad as the system is now built and...

Not to take anything away from University Property Mgmt, but a large part of its success is the location and timing. Located close to two hospitals and a university already is enough to make it easily successful. Because of this location, there's a built in demand right off the start, developers...

I saw the wood styled paneling in person and it looks good. Almost like real wood.

If it looks like vinyl, it might as well be 😐

    Statscan numbers

Very strong numbers for Calgary, we’re kicking ass. It’ll be interesting to see if the population growth this year is reflective of the housing starts. If so, we should have some really strong growth in population.

My God, this is incredibly slow. We’ve seen some slow developments in Calgary, but this one has got to be the slowest of all time.

They must be confident that they are going to beat out the appeal.

This would be a good addition to the area. The street retail alone is enough to make it a good addition.

A huge improvement over the empty dirt lots that are there today.

I agree an empty lot doesn’t have to be taxed the same as a high-rise building that’s in use, but there could be an annual flat fee or something to help dissuade developers from leaving a parcel an empty lot for decades like Matco has done at the Westbrook station.

Thanks for the update NWurbanism and welcome to the forum. I’ve been wondering if they are going to build something south of Aria.

Calgary: Cars vs Pedestrians, Cyclists and Transit

That’s the situation most of us are in, especially if you’re not right in the core. I live just past 20th Ave., NW, an area which many consider to be inner city, an area that has decent walk ability, but it’s still quite difficult to live life without a car especially with kids. I’ll give you a...
