    TTC: Other Items (catch all)

Reliability improvement really means widening headways to increase trip time which leads to longer waits in hopes buses would have enough run times. This leads to more riders waiting at every stop making any delays create bigger ripple effects. In turn they yet again widen the headway to...

The city is powerless. Ford revoke the ability for Toronto city council to plan any major transit projects. So they can spend hours debating all they want.

Ontario Line Extension West of Ontario Place (Speculation)

Let's see if the PC would have any new subway announcement soon. Perhaps Sheppard extension would be on top of the list? I don't see an announcement to extend the OL happening till the finalize what kind of trains they will use.

I believe there is a safety requirement on how deep the TBM needs to be before being used. That’s something like at least twice the diameter. If they just used it in shallow condition like this tunnel, all the houses will feel the vibration that can possibly knock them down.

It will have to be cut and cover or mined. Mount Dennis Station isn’t that deep under so there’s no way they can even think of TBM.

    Roads: Ontario/GTA Highways Discussion

Owning is one thing. Maintenance and policing is another. Until it is close to breaking even, I don't see it happening.

I believe the agreement was ML will resurface and rebuild the roadway adjacent to the surface portion and immediate roadway next to each underground stations. The roadway in between each station however falls under TO's problems. Which caused a fuss cause construction equipment needs to be moved...

    Metrolinx: Finch West LRT

First Safety. Second Operation. It's the same reason why there's signs, traffic light and drivers licensing for roads. Unlike cars, trains don't stop in a short distance and operators can't see around the bend in the tunnel. There needs a protection layer to prevent crashes, inexperience...

    Metrolinx: Finch West LRT

TTC didn't have signaling system equipment on the trains back then. It was a simple block system that passed a current under a low voltage through the axle to detect a train. The operator followed the signals and if they fail to do so, a trip arm activates to stop the train. It wasn't till more...

    Metrolinx: Finch West LRT

When it's time to replace the signaling system (e.g. TTC Line 1), there would likely be a major improvement that allows things that can't be achieved today to happen.

From this article: https://www.railwaypro.com/wp/thales-to-provide-cbtc-solution-for-torontos-finch-west-lrt/ How many SelTrac systems do they have? Also, the HuLRT would be using the signalling system from Hitachi Rail STS https://www.hitachi.ca/about/press/details/10212019.html They...
