    Toronto Toronto | Eglinton Line 5 Crosstown West Extension | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx

Low platforms don't prevent high floor trains from running. There would just be steps at the doorway. There are systems around the world that does this, one such example is GO trains. Platforms are low floor but coaches are higher floor. An accessibility coach allows for such purpose with a...

They need more money to implement this route. TTC isn’t doing very well in fare box recovery these days and relies on subsidies to keep the system afloat.

    Eglinton East LRT | Metrolinx

This is one of the trips that progressed backwards. A one seat straight forward bus ride on the 34 in the 1960s and 70s turning into this disaster in 2026. It got progressively worse starting in 1980 with the opening of Kennedy Station meaning buses have to make long detours into the station and...

    TTC: Other Items (catch all)

When everyone can only keep artics are 12 years, there’s no magic that can allow them to mysteriously keep them running for 18 years. It’s no surprise to anyone that they are near the end of life.

You can't stand there on any high floor buses/streetcars either with treadle as that activates the rear doors.

Sheppard Line 4 Subway Extension (Proposed)

A 15-minute neighbourhood would be for one's basic needs. School, recreation, library, park, groceries and basic minimum wage jobs can all be within the area. For an average person, this would mean the person won't have to leave the neighbourhood for most days of the month. Your doctor visits...

Sheppard Line 4 Subway Extension (Proposed)

The current Dufferin/Allen (north of 401) is the gateway to the 401. South of it can be eliminated. However all the traffic will spill over to Dufferin (which is already a mess cause of Yorkdale Mall, probably would need to reroute the 29 Dufferin bus), Bathurst (which is already congested and...

TTC: Electric and alternative fuel buses

The city has no money, they should just buy very well established and proven diesel buses and spend the rest of the money on service improvements like queue lanes and transit priority. Instead they are spending hundred of millions on batteries than makes zero improvement to actual service...

I do think the taller glass building design improves the counterphobic appearance and allows more sunlight to reach inside. The white wall encloses the ventilation system that occupies up to the second story. So parts of that building out be that tall anyways.

They don’t even have the Vision system used to track surface vehicles. I’m sure it’s not that hard to figure out if they want to but I suppose the route manager uses the signaling system for location like the subway instead of gps for surface routes?

That's definitely a lot of ground that can be used to lower the roadway to grade separated the tracks

    TTC: Other Items (catch all)

If you go to Transit Toronto and look at the history of the 7 Bathurst route in the late 70s when the Spadina subway opened, you can see they did a similar arrangement with that route. One branch between Steeles and Wilson Station (this became the 160), one branch between Steeles and St Clair...

I’m sure that’s a criminal offence. They can just charge them under the criminal law and it’s enough to arrest them but again, will they do it.

    TTC: Other Items (catch all)

They are just fooling the uneducated public while profiting on new innovations. I'm sure many places are using fossil fuel to generate the electricity to charge the batteries on top of all the emission created while they deliver the raw materials and while manufacturing these EVs.

    TTC: Other Items (catch all)

Using an EV would reduce emissions within the park. Activists will see that as a plus but we know gas just blows around.

    Toronto Toronto | Eglinton Line 5 | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | Arcadis

GPS can be wonky and you know that from vehicle tracking. However how can train detection need LiDAR and advanced tech when the functional signaling system already knows where the trains are. If this ML/Crosslinx contract doesn't allow the city to use that signaling system for traffic signal...

    Toronto Toronto | Eglinton Line 5 | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | Arcadis

Siemens got screwed when BBD underbidded them by a significant amount to win the original TTC streetcar contract. That mothballed to ML getting Flexitys as it was TTC's contract option reassigned to ML. ML then allowed ION to add their share onto that option resulting in Flexity's on TTC's...

    Finch West Line 6 LRT

A bus provides enough capacity over night. Pretty much all streetcar routes can be replaced by buses but they need to keep the streetcars out for yard constraints issues. The way how the LRT lines operate is they are part of the "subway". Probably to give the hillcrest route mangers some down...

    Toronto Toronto | Eglinton Line 5 | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | Arcadis

It really depends on location. If there's more left turning traffic compare straight traffic like Eglinton/Leslie, then all the left turning vehicles will back up and block straight traffic lanes. Leading left would be better in this case. If left turning vehicles are often stuck behind a queue...

    Toronto Toronto | Eglinton Line 5 | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | Arcadis

I'm glad they move to a lagging left, it's more efficient than a transit only inserted phase. However if a train arrives after the lagging left phase started, they should insert a transit phase to allow trains first. They really need to speed up the speed allowed through the intersection.
