    US Politics

Sadly there isn't much to hope for on the Republican side. Vance? Rubio? Cruz? The Dems really need to win the next election (if there is one), but even that probably won't stop the craziness. It depend who gets in. Shapiro, or Pritzker seem moderate enough that if elected could calm things...

    Calgary | Green Line LRT | ?m | ?s | Calgary Transit

Agreed. Being that it's a straight line corridor with continuous residential all the way to 6th ave and beyond, does give it lots of potential on top of all the people currently in the range.

    Calgary International Airport

Good to see Air Canada hasn't completely moved away from Calgary.

    Calgary & Alberta Economy

Time will tell with the data centres. Alberta is a place that makes sense to do them, but as mention by Darwink, these data centres still need customers. If we ever get to a point where NA is building hundreds of them, Alberta will get its share.

Hopefully not. If so, it means we get this, plus we still get a different project done by a starchitect firm.

    Crane Count

Thanks Redstar. Crane count is down to 31.

I'm not saying that the SE section shouldn't be built, only that it's more of a commuter style rail line with long stretches of emptiness and that it matches up more with a Nose creek style line. It has QP, CP, and South Campus, but most employees will still drive to those sites. The NC up...

Maybe we're talking about the same district but two different aspects of it :) There's this version which is the one I'm thinking of in my mind. There's also this version which looks to be the official boundaries of the district. If it's over by the Marriotts it would be a different story. I...

    Alberta Provincial Politics

The whole separation thing is annoying. I get not everything is perfect with a centralized government 3,000 km away, but it is what it is. If Alberta was ever going to separate, it would have been most practical 50 years ago, and even then there still would have been issues. Today it's not...

Luxury brand might be debatable, but it's still generally considered a upscale brand. I honestly can't see them or any other upscale brand wanting to be in the rivers district unless it was already built out. This article points to what you were saying about the brand image sliding and that the...

    Infill Development Discussion

It's an affordable housing project on 20th ave NW. It's around 15-20 units IIRC. Edit: looks to be this one. A 16 unit build. https://calgaryhousingcompany.org/development-projects-mount-pleasant/

That would be a great location. It's a location with direct walk-able routes to the Stampede, Downtown, and of course the rest of 17th Ave as well as Mission. The best location IMO would be if it was part of Vesta's Broadway development. Unfortunately that's not likely, but we can dream :)

    Fairmont Hotel | ?m | ?s | Truman

TBH, I highly doubt Fairmont would ever allow its branding to be in a place like the Rivers district. Maybe in 20 years when it's built out, but imagine being a guest paying luxury hotel prices in the middle of the Rivers district.

    Calgary | Green Line LRT | ?m | ?s | Calgary Transit

The NC leg being tied to the SE has always been the issue. The SE leg is more like a commuter train which is how the Nose Creek path would be. The route up Centre street has more potential given the amount of inner city development within a kilometer east and west of the Centre street line, but...

It’d be cool to see the Fairmont on the NE corner of 27th and 4th in with Broadway on 17th.
