    Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!

Are there 3,000 new residents expected from the conversions that aren’t finished yet? I could only think of 4 buildings currently being converted. The Baron building The Taylor building Place 800 Eau Claire 2

Bravo. I always appreciated it when someone works in a Seinfeld reference lol.

    Toronto Toronto | Forma | 308m | 84s | Great Gulf | Gehry Partners

This is looking great so far. It's my favorite of all the highrises u/c.

    Calgary | Francesco's | 48m | 16s | Arlington Street | DAAS

I like the placement of the tower at the south end away from 17th. It’s like there’s a high rise tower there, but at the same time not.

    Calgary's Downtown Dilemma

We need to do a better job on affordable housing and housing for the homeless who can live on their own. Different story for those who can’t live on their own, and there aren’t many options. Either leave them on the streets to fend for themselves and eventually die or create some sort of...

    Calgary's Downtown Population

7500 units built in a 6 sq km brownfield area over a 5 year period is impressive for a city Calgary’s size. Cities like Hamilton, Winnipeg or Edmonton could only dream of that pace of downtown development.

    Weather and Gardening Discussion

I’m still not used to Calgary’s weather. One day it’s beautiful fall weather and then you wake to your snow lol then it’s gone and back to fall weather for a while. It never gets boring!

One thing I like about this forum, almost every day there’s the opportunity to chime in with a famous Michael Scott reference 😅

    Calgary | University District | ?m | ?s | University of Calgary Properties Group

The University hit it out of the park, and they are any even halfway finished. Does anyone know what’s proposed for the area where the student housing was? I don’t see anything on the SRC map.

    Calgary | Hampton Inn by Hilton | 56.08m | 17s | Triple One | NORR

I saw this in person today, and I have to say it looks a lot better finished than it looked in the renderings.

    Calgary | The Sentinel | 24m | 6s | Arlington Street | Jackson McCormick

It is what it is. Not the best proposal for that corner, but now that the damage is done, I'll look at the positive side, which is extra residents in the area.

    Calgary | Stampede Station | 277.3m | 71s | Truman | NORR

A few things were different back then. A bunch of new hotels opened at the same time (2019), so there was a bit of a short term glut, but also world travel has changed since the pandemic. Calgary has been seeing an increase in visitors every year and add in a new larger convention centre and we...

    Calgary | Stampede Station | 277.3m | 71s | Truman | NORR

I would bet the taller one comes in around that height, but even a bit more. If the 62 storey one is coming at 252m, the taller one (based on extrapolation of 10 extra floors should come in at around 278m. That's assuming the bottom 5 floors are exactly double the height of a regular floor. Also...

    Edmonton | The Quarters Hotel and Residences | 280.1m | 80s | Alldritt Land | KENNEDY

Agreed. It doesn't even make sense financially to build something that tall on that footprint at that location. 25-40 would be better for the people investing money to build it.
