At this point it'd be stupid not to fund it and just finish the project.

I know some on here are anti-road BUT this is one road that should be funded for any work as it's a major transportation route.
Oh it absolutely needs to be funded. But I also strongly object to the city be forced to shoulder the the greatest debt burden for the upgrade to a designated core route national highway. Both the province and the federal government should have increased their funding levels to keep the coverage percentages the same instead of increasing Edmonton's by 70%. Even if the city had still taken on the debt, that increase could have covered a lot of road repairs/replacements in other parts of the city.

Not sure if this has been shared but I don't remember seeing this short video - it's section from St. Albert Trail to 97 St and captures lrt bridge and Blatchford. The freeway conversion in this section will provide some new multi-use paths across 127st as well as south of the Yellowhead going east-west.

This is approaching 127St looking east (a lot of lanes!)

And near Blatchford

The 127 St interchange seems to be overkill if you ask me. Is it really necessary to have 2 left turn lanes and 2 straight lanes in the EB lanes? Is it really necessary to have 2 WB lanes joining the Yellowhead?

As for the other interchange, I still want to see 121 St and 107 St renamed.

I’m curious: why did they opt to make 127th Street an all-directional interchange but not St. Albert Trail?

There's going to be a Collector-Distributor system between St Albert Trail and 127 St, so it's needed. It's similar to the setup at Whitemud between Calgary Trail and 99 St.

St Albert Trail is all-directional though. Are you thinking of 66 St?

Sorry, I worded it wrong. What I was referring to was the fact that you can directly access 127th Street via ramps from the Yellowhead mainline, but you have to travel quite a bit on service roads for ingress/egress from the Yellowhead to St. Albert Trail. Why did they opt for that? Isn’t the latter roadway much busier?

Probably because that's how the merges / forks between highway and service lanes are set up. They also have to be spaced far apart enough so there's isn't too much traffic weaving in and out all at once.
