Oh it absolutely needs to be funded. But I also strongly object to the city be forced to shoulder the the greatest debt burden for the upgrade to a designated core route national highway. Both the province and the federal government should have increased their funding levels to keep the coverage percentages the same instead of increasing Edmonton's by 70%. Even if the city had still taken on the debt, that increase could have covered a lot of road repairs/replacements in other parts of the city.
