A modest Christmas gift to the forum. If anyone is wondering what's planned for the fenced-off site on 14th in Kensington with the "Porte" signage on it, they've finally submitted a new DP for the site. Nothing exciting, but it would be nice to get that lot filled in. 104 units, architect is CTZN.

Nice. I take it this is the former Sola site:

It is great to see Porte going all in for Calgary. They have purchased a couple of the Sarina ones in Marda Loop I think, and have 3 development projects at least (this one, 17th Ave and Currie Barracks).

could this be possible in kensington?
The interesting thing from the article is that 34th use to be the main street with the streetcar line and 33rd became the main street when it switched to bus service. So, does Kensington have ready-made secondary main street with older charming homes? They have the latter but do they have the former?

Using their experience at the Viscount Bennett site, here's hoping they can take on some other former institutional properties and turn them into multi-family, multi-structure developments. Thinking of at least part of Westbrook specifically if not some other TOD.

Went past the old Nexen building on the train tonight and it had me wondering if the UofC conversion had opened yet and if there has been any plans announced for the rest of the building?
Classes start there this week. I toured through it briefly yesterday, much nicer space than the old central library site.
