Are you a student, Nimbus?
I am not, fortunate circumstances led to me being able to check it out. While SAPL has access to it apparently, one of the floors is a fully stocked gym with towel service and such. Not sure what the cost will be, and I assume it will also be for future tenants in the building.

Interesting they have a gym set up before there really being any tenants in the building. Maybe something will get announced shortly.

Or they might be using amenities like the "fitness centre" to attempt to draw in tenants in much the way Aspen has done for Edison and Ampersand.

Not sure where to post this, but recently came across the Hilton at Amsterdam Schiphol Airport, which looks like a sister building to our central library!

Land use redesignation at 17th and 1st street SW. Looks to be infilling the empty lot.

This could be an exciting one to watch. O2 has in the past been involved in some pretty ambitious proposals (Broadway on 17th, Marc & Mada, the Grace Hospital site, getting Kit approved at 15 storeys in Kensington) so I am curious to see what the plan is for this site. Hopefully we'll see a concept plan soon.

Was O2 involved with Marc and Mada? Pretty sure that was Civicworks. O2 has the other "highrise" land use to the west of Marc and Mada in Marda Loop here:

Also, speaking of interesting land use redesignations, this one by Civicworks in the Banff Trail Station Area could also lead to something of interest:

Nice to finally have a design but pretty unacceptable performance by the city. This building was decommissioned in 2021! 5 years to produce a DP that just reuses the original building and doesn't even plan around how to use the giant plot of land to deliver more units.

Honestly, The City is terrible at getting these projects moving. Their affordable housing project by the dog park in Mt Pleasant (a whopping 16 units) was proposed before Covid and is still under construction. This one - 5 years to produce a DP and they aren't even anticipating construction start til next year. Add it all up and it'll be 10 years to occupancy by the time this thing opens.

Scotia Place does show that The Cit can get things done if the momentum and political will are there.
