I was there for my PDI today - they were installing a glass entrance door / facade under those supports.

I really don't get it. I've had discussions in other threads about the hot topic of soundproofing, particularly side-to-side between units, and majority opinion seems to be that concrete dividing walls are the best defense. Given that Murano has concrete walls, what's the source of the sound...

It's finally coming together. What's with the 2 shades of balcony glass?

Nice. My occupancy is scheduled for Jan 18th... I guess that means if I haven't had a delay notice by Dec. 18th then it's a go. Mind you, I was at the site a couple of weeks ago and it's a mess. Still seems like Jan. is a bit optimistic.

I bought at The Printing Factory and a stacked front-loading washer/dryer was available as an upgrade (about $150.00 if I remember correctly). Top loading was standard. Does anyone see any reason why most builders wouldn't make that option available?

Who would buy a 500~550 sqft condo?

    I second that emotion.

What happens to deposit if developers go bankrupt?

As far as I know, as long as your deposit is held in trust, it should be OK. This article may help: http://www.yourhome.ca/homes/columnsblogs/article/641540--loss-of-part-of-deposit-teaches-a-hard-lesson "Deposit money should always be paid to a law firm or other trustee, never to the...

Hey AGTO - as I'm sure you remember, we've had this discussion the the Printing Factory Lofts thread in the construction section. In that thread, I provided some info from different sources indicating that the noise transference through the walls will LIKELY not be an issue (until the units are...

    Condo Upgrades

Does anyone know if there is a standard rule about do-it-yourself upgrades - particularly flooring - during interim occupancy? Given that you don't actually own the unit until final closing, do most developers request you wait to install flooring until final closing? I've heard many purchasers...

    Condo fees

NDP Leader Andrea Horwath says Ontario's plan to merge sales taxes will mean a seven per cent increase in costs for condo owners in the province. Horwath says the although the harmonized sales tax does not apply directly to condo fees, it will increase expenses such as hydro, landscaping...

To follow up on discussion from earlier in the thread re. the "single-stud drywall" issue, I emailed the developer who passed on my question to their construction dept. Just got a response: The STC rating for your unit is 54 Single stud with 2 layers of drywall on both side and type 2...

Just got another delay notice - occupancy moved from Sept. 29th to November 27th. Rather than the "unforseen circumstances" noted in the previous delays, this one specifically mentions the city worker strike.

Thanks for the info, folks. I work at Yonge/St. Clair, so I figure I'd streetcar to Yonge and subway up. Might try Greenleaf's suggestion - could be faster even though I'd have to switch trains. *sigh* Looking forward to moving, but my days of walking to work will soon be over :(

Pleasedtomeetya, Jayzie. I hope you don't mind a couple of questions from a future neighbor... 1. How long does it take to get from Queen/Carlaw to the Queen subway station on the 501 streetcar between say, 7 and 9 am? 2. Are there any plans afoot to renovate the Shoppers Drugmart on...
