York Region Transit: Viva service thread

I can't really say I agree with that myself because of course there's a whole lot west of Keele. The stopover adds almost an hour of travel time if you want to go from Yonge to Martin Grove, when you factor in the time it takes to wait for an Orange bus once you get off, and the detour down...

TTC's ATC contract awarded, with a lawsuit

http://www.theglobeandmail.com/servlet/story/RTGAM.20090423.wxsignal23art2250/BNStory/National/home?cid=al_gam_mostview They say it's a "misunderstanding" over credit guarantees. I don't know who to blame in these instances--the TTC, the company, or the lawyer who drafted the letter.

    Steeles RT

Steeles West is definitely not fast though. Both it and Finch are ridiculously slow-going with all the stops on the way.

    407 Transitway

There is some interesting news in the paper today about this otherwise mysterious project. http://www.yorkregion.com/article/90734

    Bicycle Paths

The trick with this is that you always have to cross on the right side of traffic. Otherwise, if a car turns right (but they aren't in the right turn lane), it can have bad consequences when you merge into traffic on the bike. TK: Well, I completely agree.

    Bicycle Paths

How can you see the above daily when the amount of cars on the road outweighs bicycles by about 1000 to 1--moreso if you go north of Yonge and St Clair. Let's agree that 1% of "people" break the rules, no matter their modality of transit. Logically, that means a greater amount of cars are...

    Bicycle Paths

I've seen the complete opposite. One car on Steeles not only ran a red light but turned left on the red and tried to merge into traffic. That was interesting. And consider the amount of damage done. Damage by a car is not comparable to damage by a bicycle. And I don't know anyone who...

Greyhound: Apart from that, how was your experience today?

I wonder how many people just game the system though. I had a former friend who got a free apartment because he seemed to pretend to be (or at least exaggerate) bipolar. As he told me, "hey it's not too bad." And overall, they're still a threat to society. How about all the guys who push...

Wrecked my suspension in a pot hole on 401 exit, is that City or Provincial land?

If it's municipality-owned, IIRC you must also notify them within 15 days of an intention to sue.

    Richmond Hill Toronto | Yonge Line 1 North Subway Extension | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx

Not sure whether to put this in the DRL thread or this thread because, as the article says, they both seem to be wrapped up in each other at the moment.... http://network.nationalpost.com/np/blogs/toronto/archive/2009/01/30/sudden-momentum-for-the-downtown-relief-line.aspx

    Richmond Hill Toronto | Yonge Line 1 North Subway Extension | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx

I guess so. I just can't help feeling some type of motive here, especially in regards to how averse the TTC itself was to inter-regionalism with the buses to Downsview, seen in the leaked Metrolinx "fare integration" report. If it turns out to be a good thing, all the better. EDIT: nfitz...

    Richmond Hill Toronto | Yonge Line 1 North Subway Extension | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx

Then why wasn't the TTC or City Council pushing for a DRL until a few days ago? Some response from Metrolinx:

    Richmond Hill Toronto | Yonge Line 1 North Subway Extension | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx

Hmm well I think that sucks. Toronto kind of hijacks the process right at the end to possibly kill the subway north. Yonge and Highway 7 was promised a subway 10 or 15 years ago and it never came; who's to say it would be different this time. That's why I kind of agree with the Councillor who...

    Richmond Hill Toronto | Yonge Line 1 North Subway Extension | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx

I think it's important to remember that every other train is starting at Finch or Steeles rather than RHC. So shouldn't it stop some overcrowding?
