Does anyone know when the fences will come down along the Sherbourne Common waterfront promenade? Superstar posted a photo above. After waiting years for the promenade to finally get completed the city decides to park a barge and cut off access. Yeeesh! Typical.

I agree ProjectEnd, the first proposal is much better. The clock tower looks cramped. It should stand out more.

It looks like the cladding on the hangers is purely decorative in that it’s not actually applied to the steel hanger. It looks like the cladding is attached to the glass.

The suspense is killing me. Come on cladding man let us see what you’re made of. Show us some skin.

What a punch in the gut. So where’s the park? Is it relegated to the scraps left over from the developer feeding frenzy.

I’m curios about the layers of material that are applied to the raw concrete on the super columns. The first layer consists of a blue styrofoam looking material, then a yellow fibreglass looking layer, then a thin mesh like layer and, I assume, the final metal cladding will be attached. Does...

Nice overhead wires and utility poles. Let’s you know you’re in Toronto.

Bravo! This is great news. When I moved to Toronto in 1970 there were still many small, old neighbourhood theatres. Many had a certain charm. One of the things I miss are the old ticket booths, especially those from the Art Deco era. Ticket booths have now been replaced with computer terminals...

Yonge Street Revitalization (Downtown Yonge BIA/City of Toronto)

I have to say, Northern Light, you have given me some hope. I’ve been champing at the bit for this to happen since the early 70’s. I am, though, eagerly waiting for the opening of Love Park and now that John Tory is gone maybe Claude Cormier can be convinced, or bribed, to run for mayor. Of T.O.

So if we’re lucky the project will be completed in 5 or 6 years. Anyone feeling optimistic? I’m not.

Yonge Street Revitalization (Downtown Yonge BIA/City of Toronto)

The Revitalization of Yonge street south of College is scheduled to begin this Spring. Has anyone seen signs that this will actually happen?

I don’t think paint is a viable solution. Paint requires a lot of maintenance. My quick samples don’t address the elevator shafts which could be accented with color to enhance the vertical thrust of the tower.

I like the white version but it would probably stain easily. I still prefer almost anything to raw concrete which I find incredibly ugly and depressing.

Any word on the exterior? I hope it's not staying as is. Here are some quick and dirty explorations. Hmmmm. I like the white version. Original Cleaned up White cladding Dark cladding

Statues, sculptures and public art in Toronto

There is a lovely little park located at the south east intersection of Spadina and Wellington streets named "Clarence Square". There is an equally lovely little fountain in the park. Unfortunately the fountain has been hidden behind an ugly makeshift graffiti covered plywood box for the better...

I really hate raw concrete so I’m opened to anything (except the barber pole). Maybe I’ll try some photoshop renders. 😊

I know this is off topic but I would like to see the CN tower concrete mast clad in something colourful... or even black with bright coloured details. The pods are great as they are.
