    Unions!

Unions are living in a dreamland. I will never support this upcoming strike. Consider your change to be permanent. I haven't met a manager in the private sector willing to hire anyone coming from a union or public sector.

Great Films! Comment or Suggest Some....

Some recent favourites... The latest Star Trek - i was pleasantly surprised. You have to be a sci-fi fan to enjoy it though The Hangover - I was high, but I probably still enjoy it without Mary Jane. Pan's Labyrinth - it was on tv the other night, omigod-wonderful! Amelie -...

Tai Pan Tours / Bus Tours???

I've taken one of these Chinese discount tours to NYC during my student days and promised myself to never EVER, EHHVER do it again. The bus I was on blasted 80's music and it didn't stop. By the time we were in Burlington I had to beg the tour guide to turn the "effing" music off! When we got to...

Toronto Strong Contender For Olympic Games - IOC President

I'm willing to deal with the Olympic excess, corruption, commercialism, etc. in order to obtain what needs to be done in this city during my lifetime (I'm not that old too! :D)

    We HATE Toronto!

I'm glad to see that some posters have noted the comments section of an online newspaper is not necessarily representative of the feelings of most Torontonians. If the general population truly hated this city then downtown Toronto would be hollowed out and there would be a mass exodus of...

    Ryerson: Master Plan

What Ryerson has done over the past few years has changed my stereotypical views of the school. I may consider taking a graduate degree at "Rye-High" in the future. As long as we have visionaries such as Levy in place, all they need is the funding to implement their ideas. So I'm really...

    Most over-used words 2008, arrgh!

Nothing's better during the holidays than to harp about what irks us. :D We all know how kids, especially teens slip in "umm" or "like" into their conversations. However, adults (including myself) also fall into the trap of using unnecessary words. The following over-used words are...

This is a great shot. The view of the skyline from the southeast looking northwest is my favourite; no matter from how far away.

Advice on What to Do With my Life (Midlife Crisis?)

29 is still young, go out and do it for a year, maybe 2 years max. Heck, your timing may be good since the economy is heading downward. Although, I'm glad you're still thinking about the future too, at least this will keep you grounded with a sense of direction.

TO is now 2nd most expensive city in North America

Exactly. A poster like Glen, much as I disagree with him, usually makes factual statements that I was hitherto unaware of. All Dichotomy seems capable of is presenting us with his life story ("when I went to Brazil...", "I used to live at Bathurst and Steeles", "this one time I climbed up a...

Toronto 2008 Olympics: A city that might have been

i have to agree the Olympics would have been a boon for Toronto and especially for its waterfront. It would have been a catalyst to spur even more development. Even with all the Olympic baggage of corruption, cost overruns, crass commercialism, etc. the rewards simply outweigh the risks. I refer...

    moving to T.O.

another popular bit of advice is to visit before you make the move! If you visit, it might be a good idea to check out a few places in the DT neighbourhoods or places along the subway line. although Alberta's economy is on fire, you can definitely find something here in TO. How bad is crime...

Is university education becoming too common?

You have to accept the fact that a lot of people go the University because most jobs today require it, which is why a bachelor's degree is so common. Do you really need Art History, Philosophy, Applied Mathematics, Geography, or Comparative Politics to work in an office job today? Not...

    How to find jobs downtown?

i commend you for your decision. I chose not work anywhere that is not accessible by public transit as well. the most effective ways for me to find a job downtown (or at any other place) are through networking/referrals and recruiters. I suggest going through the business cards you...
