    Edmonton Branding and Tourism strategy

When you look at the amount of vacant, developable, and affordable land in and around downtown Edmonton, Vancouver’s Downtown East Side isn’ta really good comparable except for people who like to excuse things by saying “well, it could be worse”…

Now, now…. everyone here is just implementing the same landscape “naturalization” policy the city is pioneering for their own public spaces. :(

    Edmonton Oilers

To be fair, their record last year was 44 - 27 - 11 for 99 points and third in the division (tied for 7th in the conference and tied for 10th in the league) which surely has to be considered competitive. Noting of course that "competitive" doesn't necessarily translate to "winning" once the...

What to do with a decommissioned bridge: Gene Dub proposed something similar for the south span of the original Walterdale bridge rather demolishing the entire structure.

5 were arrested for intoxication and 1 for criminal mischief??? That might even be fewer than the typical numbers, even for a Monday night, perhaps saying something for additional visible presence?

They could have maintained a lay-by lane for that on Jasper Avenue if they had coordinated things better design wise and construction wise. That would also have meant they wouldn’t have to cross the pedestrian path/take up the pedestrian path for that.

Connor McDavid: “I love playing in the playoffs. I love playing with this group. It’s been a fun ride and we’re glad it’s going to go one more day. But that’s all we’ve earned here: Another day, another flight. We’ll be ready to go in Edmonton on Friday.” I have no doubt they’ll be “ready to...

    Edmonton Oilers

According to Mark Spector on Sportsnet: "For the record, the Oilers captain took part in the morning skate here ahead of an 8 p.m. local start, not something he would always do. But this isn’t your normal, everyday game either. "“I don’t want to be flat,” he said. “Long flights. Lots of...

If asked last September, October or November if we would be happy if the Oilers played even two home games in the Stanley Cup Final, most of us would have said we’d be ecstatic. Regardless of what happens Saturday - or in any games that might be played after Saturday - this season has been a...

    Low Level Bridge

It would be different if that plaque was an anti-rust cathode that would prevent the steel it was mounted on from rusting away to the point of being structurally unsound. It’s the condition of the bridge that is a disgrace, not the fact that it is a designated historical structure.

^ I think what this demonstrates is the ineffectiveness of the Mayor's office in Alberta and across Canada - particularly when saddled with a new and/or ineffective council or administration - more than the effectiveness of the individual.
