Remarkably beautiful facade on the right hand side of the water's edge. If only the Corus building could emulate that!!

I always get a kick out of the lovely designs and renderings, like the Norweigen one above, that of course don't exist in reality. Other than the Corus building, no other investment exists on Toronto's waterfront (except maybe the Portlands film studio). So let's be happy that a company is...

I think the examples prove the point. All except the one MetroMan shows (reaching out to the water) are much taller buildings or the Sydney Opera House. One thing more... the WT precinct plan does not allow the buildings to be near the water and are not allowed to reach over the public...

Having watched this thread for the last few months it occurs to me that much of the criticism is really just personal and aimed at Jack Diamond, and I think quite unfairly. While some have made useful specific comments about the proposed Chorus building most others have just attacked it as...

No, I mean a building or investment in office, residential, retail or institutional employer. Even parks have been few and far between (Mimico?).

Who is Mr. Victoria Jackman? What is the conflict? If there is a conflict, it seems to be between those who want to do things and those that want to naval gaze at taxpayers expense. Isn't this the first project to emerge after 5 years of the TWRC?

From Achendar's document it looks like the current (November) rendering is pretty similar to the original June version, so I don't know what the fuss is about. But IMHO it would be good to see the "twist" back in the upper floors. Why is the newer version grey and the June version gold-ish...

I drove by the site today. Aecon is the main constructor and there is no doubt that the building is under construction. It looks like drilling or caissons are being installed with large equipment. There is no nearby development. It seems the Corus project is the only building development...

It does seem like there are a lot of design competitions, yet not much being built. Anyone know how much has been spent on studies?! I don't know about West 8th (wasn't it a big competition to do the whole water front area?), but all the other projects now under construction are by others...

    M1+M2+Metropolis+Parkside@Metro Place (Allen&Sheppard, Liberty, 14+2x16+17s, Kirkor) COMPLETE

The east side of Allen Road (south of Sheppard) was just transferred to the Toronto Economic Development Corporation last year. There is a plan to make the lands blend into the existing community (to the east) and add office buildings attached to the subway station. To the south would be...

At the media conference they said the figure in the movie was an error. Its about 40 acres, not 40 hectares.

Yes, I understand that Sherbourne Park was indeed going to start at same time as TEDCO's Chorus project. The reports a few months ago said both the park and the project were starting by August. It is not mentioned in the articles what happens to the tennis club, that might also be (partly) in...

    Toronto Toronto | Corus Quay | ?m | 8s | Waterfront Toronto | Diamond Schmitt

I saw a Priestly vehicle there yesterday, so its probably their hoarding. The construction phase would naturally have to start with the demolition of the existing marine terminal structure before TEDCO can start below-grade. It may also be hoarding for the park (Sherbourne Park) which the...

Toronto Toronto | Worklofts + Flatiron Lofts in the Film District | ?m | 11s | Lamb Dev Corp | Core Architects

Its a nice design and of medium height, but it is definately not part of the Filmport concept. There are no condos or residential within the Filmport project in the Portlands. It must be somewhere else in the city -- not the waterfront, where only Eastern Bay Front and West Don Land areas are...

    Waterfront: WATERFRONToronto Rendering

Tearing down the Gardiner and putting a "park deck" over it is the best idea I have heard in a long time. What is up (or down!) with the Gardiner Expressway plan? Wasn't that studied by WaterfronToronto 2 years ago! Why isn't anything happening with their plan?

    Toronto Toronto | Pinewood Toronto Studios | 10m | 1s | Pinewood Group | HOK

The Filmport site is an interesting one and perhaps that is where this Cloud building of Alsop may go. Or maybe its a completely different Alsop building than the Liverpool one, because he has been associated for some time with this film studio project and The Cloud was never mentioned before...

I can't find the City Council vote results, but here is a report on the project from when it was approved: See http://www.toronto.ca/legdocs/mmis/2007/ex/bgrd/backgroundfile-3253.pdf

    Toronto Toronto | Corus Quay | ?m | 8s | Waterfront Toronto | Diamond Schmitt

I have read this debate and must say that I think FutureMayor is misinformed about what is going on with the office building. Nothing in the project has been in disregard of the waterfront plan, in fact the TWRC supports the Corus building being built by TEDCO. Its the first real development...

    Toronto Toronto | Corus Quay | ?m | 8s | Waterfront Toronto | Diamond Schmitt

I read the report too. Its very clear that the project creates significant new tax revenues for the City, starting at end of 2009. The City is apparently providing a loan to TEDCO for the construction, which will then be repaid, so it is not like an expenditure that goes down a drain...
