Ontario Line Extension West of Ontario Place (Speculation)

I think the future west end dilemma is another reason why a King St alignment should've been chosen over Queen. That's not to say a subway under Queen isn't necessary (I'd wager both lines will be necessary within 50 years time), but a King alignment would ideally hit Liberty Village GO RER...

    Roads: Ontario/GTA Highways Discussion

Took 410NB once a week during the PM rush hour from spring to fall last year and it was a complete shit show. It's such an abrupt transition from 5 lanes to 3 and then 2 past Williams Pkwy. An extension of the HOV lanes to Boivard should be completed ASAP but 3 lanes per direction to Sandalwood...

Here's an idea for the Relief Line based on discussions in the Relief Line West thread. Relief Line South would be the first segment built from Osgoode to Pape. Beyond that, an extension north to Eglinton follows the Thorncliffe Park route but also splits off into an eastern branch at O'Connor...

Details on the new 300 level Ticketmaster Lounge are now available: http://content.mlb.com/documents/0/9/2/302555092/ticketmaster_lounge.pdf This space replaces what was the old press box.

We can call it the Douglas Ford Memorial Folksway Bridge.

    Roads: GTA West Corridor—Highway 413

The benefit of the proposed highway is to alleviate parts of the 400 and 401 but seeing how it hits a bunch of designated employment areas and upcoming residential development, it would certainly help relieve the 410 and even 427. Also, won't those agricultural areas (sand colour) eventually be...

    Toronto Toronto | Rogers Centre Renovations | ?m | ?s | Toronto Blue Jays | Populous

It's possible to renovate a stadium or arena to modern standards without scrapping and rebuilding completely. Take a look at MSG, Wrigley and Dodger Stadium as recent examples. As others have indicated, large-scale renovations can be completed in stages, which is what Rogers would likely do in...

    Toronto Toronto | Rogers Centre Renovations | ?m | ?s | Toronto Blue Jays | Populous

You're comparing apples to oranges here. The Gardens and all other vintage NHL/NBA arenas were typically constrained in their revenue-generating abilities due to 1. lower seating capacity, 2. lack of adequate private boxes and 3. smaller footprints. Point 3 made any attempts to expand these...

For anyone who has a subscription to the Athletic, here's an article by Andrew Stoeten from April re Dome renovations: https://theathletic.com/283699/2018/03/29/talk-is-cheap-but-procrastinating-over-renovations-will-cost-blue-jays/ There's some pretty intriguing stuff in his article, namely...

I'll add to what others have already posted: The collector/express system is actually better for the 401 than having 6+ adjacent lanes. I was recently in Los Angeles for the first time in over a decade and most of their freeways contain 6 - 8 adjacent lanes including HOV lanes. Their traffic is...

    Roads: Ontario/GTA Highways Discussion

A theoretical buying back of the western portion of 407 would be done in conjunction with construction of the 413 (GTA West route) that was planned to begin at the 401-407 interchange. The rationale is to create a more unified and continuous road network in the western GTA, particularly for...

    Roads: Ontario/GTA Highways Discussion

Yes, precisely. Except the 403 would now reach Niagara and the QEW to Brantford/Woodstock. That QEW-403-407 interchange in Burlington is a mess and is why I would see that targeted/changed.

    Roads: Ontario/GTA Highways Discussion

A future GTA West route would connect to the 404 under ideal circumstances but that is not likely given the existence of the Oak Ridges Moraine. A Bradford Bypass would exist as its own separate route between 400 and 404, north of where the GTA West would end in Vaughan. In an ideal fantasy...

    Toronto Toronto | Crosstown LRT | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | Arcadis

The L may have a more extensive network but isn't as efficient as it could be. All L-related travel is routed through the Loop/Downtown as opposed to having proper crosstown links within the system. The only exception is the Red Line which more or less traverses the entirety of Chicago's...

    Toronto Toronto | Ontario Line 3 | ?m | ?s

I've seen some of your concepts include this but I've always liked the idea of RL West dipping south to King after Spadina then travelling north on Dufferin until Eglinton. This would hit the proposed Liberty Village RER station but also provides a N-S route as relief for future capacity...

    Toronto Toronto | Rogers Centre Renovations | ?m | ?s | Toronto Blue Jays | Populous

According to the article I read, the field rotation idea has actually been conceptualized by a design and engineering firm. Whether they actually go ahead with the plan depends on how much Rogers is willing to spend. Shapiro has prepared various tiers of renovations, all relative to the overall...

Ontario Line North of Eglinton (was Relief Line North) (Speculation)

Yes, pretty much, except the Barrie Line would continue north to Bradford and continue as usual to Barrie. That would be the trickiest part due to tunneling, land expropriation and crossing the Holland Marsh.

Ontario Line North of Eglinton (was Relief Line North) (Speculation)

I think the main issue with option 6 as LRT is O'Connor is pretty devoid of space for a surface routing. Any rapid transit would have to be underground along O'Connor. I believe an underground route would be ideal, especially with a lengthier timeline of 50+ years.
