Dear Those Who Might Know: Is there any possibility that height might be re-added to this design? That is to say, whether or not it's likely, does the way it's engineered accommodate for height changes at this stage of construction?

'Archiporn Wraith' would be a pretty good band name.

Not to spoil the beauty of taal's response, but much of the foreground actually wasn't there five years ago - the right-hand side is dominated by MaRS and the AGO addition. Which somehow makes this even funnier.

By that standard, Queen's Park is as tall as Shangri-La, which mercifully it isn't. Perspective is a cruel mistress.

^ That's very true. People - especially Europeans - complain about Toronto having an "American-style" downtown, which is superficially true next to your average European city. But it's a simulacrum - an imitation of something that doesn't really exist. How many big American cities are there...

Star: TTC row ends in charges, lawsuit

That's exactly the kind of mentality that made grade 2 so goddamned unbearable.

That's a neat photo, thanks. It's a great illustration of the importance of the building's location. Not to knock your rendering, but I hope the finished product makes better use of its position as a kind of ceremonial column at the end of University, than what we see there.

Sometimes I think Christopher Hume and Prince Charles would have a lot to talk about should they get stuck in an elevator together.

People trust quoted text to, well, quote previous posts accurately. Seeing as altering quotes can mislead forumers about what the original poster said, it's probably best to leave quoted text as it is - humorous intentions or not.

Less blu, really, than a kind of off-sludge. I think I counted 30 storeys when I passed by today.

Well, here's an odd tidbit: I just walked past the site, and there were lights on and at least a couple of people visible working inside the PCL project offices, somewhere around 10 pm.

We, here, is the democratically elected apparatus that brought this particular kludge into existence. It wasn't a conspiracy of architects, it was a city decision to seize the moment and give this location to a corporate client willing to move there - at the cost of an expeditiously-designed and...

    Toronto Toronto | Corus Quay | ?m | 8s | Waterfront Toronto | Diamond Schmitt

If the architecture itself isn't proof positive that Toronto has a deep conservative streak - and I agree that it's not - then the fact that, as Kuitenbrouwer's post above points out, we permitted a drab, publically-hostile building to occupy a critical location that had been designated for a...

I hope not. LED is to the late 2000's what pink neon was to the 60's. Of our time, but embarassing.
