Heard today from those who would know that this will be underway within a month or so. Just to second what was said above...

Why not? This is a forum with plenty of different members, gay and straight. It's all good.

Southcore Financial Ctr: PricewaterhouseCoopers Tower (18 York St, bcIMC, 26s, KPMB)

So, I hear they're building a tower at 18 York Street...

If this project keeps up like this, it stands a good chance of reaching full height before you do, Steve. :-)

Interesting points. But this won't be the first time or place that employers have offered lodging for employees, whether it's a live-in nanny or (until recently) the warden of Hart House. Employees would only accept these units in the first place as part of their jobs, so there's nothing...

Hmm. I think the accents on those words are used fairly often. But you almost never see the 'ç' in English, do you? Though I take your point about pronunciation. (I remember a med-school-bound friend once looking at a false-front building and declaring, "It's a fuck-aid!")

^ I suppose that's true, though you can lop off the cedille on the c because 'facade' is also a perfectly good English word.

Somehow they've managed to design a new building that looks like it's suffered its own facedectomy.

Miscellany Toronto Photographs: Then and Now

Okay, point(s) well taken. In most of these examples, the signage is literally carved into the building - it's integral to the building itself. (Didn't U of T go mucking with the stonework at the Medical Arts building when they converted it?) In these cases, the lettering doesn't stand out...

Miscellany Toronto Photographs: Then and Now

I know what you're saying, but I think that in the end, the exact opposite is true. If you leave old signs intact, than you wind up with the hipster effect of buildings that have signs that say one thing and do the other. The old sign remains as a fossilized, ironic trophy of the past, while...

Toronto Top 20 Under Construction List

You could call it site prep ('scraping'?). That way it would cover things like 1BE, which started without ever actually having started.

I miss the days when this was all railroad lands. The lines used to come down the Esplanade, and cover the whole area that the CBC sits on today. No condos, no offices, just some long, dank brink warehouses with nobody round them but an old Irish hand out on the loading dock, pacing under the...

What used to sit on this site? How long has it been a parking lot, and what was there before?

I wonder if the view from those balconies will be half as bleak as the view *of* those balconies?
