    TTC: New Fare Gate Installation

They filled in some of the gaps caused by the new fare gates with permanent fixtures at the St. Clair north entrance. First I've seen this throughout the system.

    Metrolinx: Presto Fare Card

Also the interest you forego for having $20 sitting on your card is literally nothing.

    Toronto Toronto | Crosstown LRT | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | Arcadis

They're widening it for traffic diversion only, it won't be widened in the end state.

Danforth Line 2 Scarborough Subway Extension

The ultimate destination for like a handful of commuters is the Town Centre.

TTC: Flexity Streetcars Testing & Delivery (Bombardier)

I'm pretty skeptical about being able to fit 250 people into a Flexity during normal operations. There's no internal circulation at all, the aisles are far too narrow to fit the number of standees required for 250 while still allowing people to enter, exit, pay, etc. The seats and other interior...

    Roads: Traffic Signals

Downtown streets typically don't have right turn lanes, so what do you do if you show up wanting to turn right but the light is green to go straight. You just stop and wait for the cycle? Blocking through traffic? I'm not a traffic operations guy, but a whole other dedicated phase for turning...

    Roads: Traffic Signals

Are there examples of widespread no right turn on green rules in any jurisdiction? If it's right turn on red only, cars still have pedestrians crossing in front of them to deal with, and then they just end up blocking the crosswalk.

    Toronto Bike Share

It shouldn't expand to Eglinton station as an alternative to the subway, it should be there to reach the destinations about a kilometre or so away from the station. This is what is perplexing about the Danforth stations. They're good to get along the Danforth, but they serve no last mile...

    TTC: One-Person Train Operation

Maybe I'm mis-reading, but there will still be a station attendant. This has nothing to do with OPTO.

TTC: St. Clair Streetcar Right Of Way

I saw a Flexity on St. Clair at Avenue Rd way back before we ever had one in revenue service, in the middle of a snow storm.

    The Simple Solution to Traffic

Too many cars is the main cause of traffic congestion, and will continue to be the case even without human drivers.

    Roads: Ontario/GTA Highways Discussion

It's not about getting current drivers to switch, it's about capturing future growth and making it transit-oriented, rather than car-oriented. Some of the new growth will drive, of course, but some of the current drivers will switch, too. Depends how convenient we make transit, relative to...

    Roads: Ontario/GTA Highways Discussion

Of course it is preventable. There's an equilibrium level of congestion, where people are simply going to opt to not take the trip, or use a different mode, or hell, even relocate closer to their workplaces. There's only so much road capacity, and once it's full, that's it. The city gains...

    Moose Rail (National Capital Region)

I just can't think of an advantage to running heavy rail coaches over LRT in that corridor, serving those stops.

    Roads: Ontario/GTA Highways Discussion

Technically feasible? Maybe, but it's an awful idea from a city building perspective. Adding more cars to the downtown core is the worst thing we could possibly do. The road networks downtown is likely at or over capacity as it is, and then you also need to significantly expand parking...

    Moose Rail (National Capital Region)

Considering the vastly different function that each of these serve, I'm not so sure.

    Toronto Toronto | Crosstown LRT | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | Arcadis

I can't remember where exactly I saw it, but I was looking at a design standards document of some sort, and there was a distinct LRT icon, similar to the subway and streetcar ones above.

    Toronto Toronto | Crosstown LRT | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | Arcadis

The TTC font has been in all design publications I've seen. Expect the whole thing to look similar to the TTC subway system.

Sheppard Line 4 Subway Extension (Proposed)

(Crosstown) LRT stations are a lot smaller than our current subway stations, so presumably that saves money, both capital and maintenance.

    East Danforth

Ooh, I did not know that was their policy. Do they not have food outside of brunch? Food hasn't been on my mind when I've been there in the evening hours. ;)
