The high quality of this project now highlights how much of a revamp the nearby highrise/Harry Rosen store needs, with its discolored glazing and nonexistant relation to the street wall.
I think they can still have a cohesive design while integrating the older house, they just need to make sure the threshold between old and new is deliberate enough.
I was worried they would only rebuild the left side roofs and leave the other half looking shabby. I wonder why they waited so long to dismantle the right side.
Didn't even realize there was a nice older house at that corner, it's just been blocked off by extensions. Glad this proposal gives it some prominence again.
So amazing to see the entire heritage block restored! No more missing cornices and painted brick. Every single historic facade on Yonge needs this treatment.
