It was confirmed back when the news first broke out. From what I can tell, electric loco's can accelerate faster if they pull fewer train cars. This train here in Dresden leaves the station pretty quickly with an electric loco carrying 2 passenger cars.

Another LCD design has dropped. It also shows the next few stops but I guess the photographer didn't take a pic of that. Update: Did a quick Youtube search and you can see the full extent of the LCD design here.

I'm fine with the current plan. EMUs for the higher-frequency, local and off-peak services and electric loco's/diesel trains for the lower-frequency/further out and express services.

Reading the document, these bits are much more fascinating than that aforementioned map. Early talks of a regional transit authority for the GTHA. A BART-like line running from Port Credit to Guildwood. That section could've been converted to rapid transit standards. Another line would've...
