Quarry Ridge - Strathcona County Pedestrian Footbridge | ?m | ?s | River Valley Alliance

Looking at the report, 82% either strongly support (64%) or support (18%) the preliminary footbridge design. That level of support blows my mind!

    Edmonton | Valley Line LRT/ Valley Line West | ?m | ?s | City of Edmonton

Watching the video in this tweet, I see an issue. We've talked on this forum about cars turning right and having to make the adjustment once trains start running. But I believe there's a problem in the engineering. In the video, the vehicle is turning right in a slip lane. I can't think of any...

Cycling and Active Transportation in Edmonton

I had a very similar thought. I get the impression you're expected to go down the hill and if you want to go downtown, use another route. Having said that, 100 Ave appears to be identified as a missing link in the city's bike plan

    Edmonton | Law Courts Galleria | ?m | 4s | Province of Alberta | Next Architecture

It looks not bad, IMO. Needs some greenery on each section of roof

God, that land has been vacant for as long as I can remember. Isn't it where the old Gardens sat?

Why does the bridge over 97 St still exist?

    Edmonton | Valley Line LRT/ Valley Line West | ?m | ?s | City of Edmonton

From the direction most people will be headed (from the station straight up the stairs), the pillars are fairly inconspicuous being positioned right behind the original station's. It's only from the other angle that they become odd

    Downtown Crime

Actually 7 lanes for a long stretch, but headed (eventually) down to 5.

    Canada Soccer

Why would Edmonton have the city manager and mayor at a reveal party if the city's (reportedly) not getting any games? That just doesn't add up

    Downtown Crime

To build on your point, any street becomes more livable and attractive if there are fewer cars on it, downtown or not. In my mind, it's one of the reasons the Fort Road development at Belvedere never quite took off. Who wants to live next to a 6-lane expressway?

    Downtown Real Estate

My brother and his ex had a studio in there (all the basement windows you see in the photo). It'll be a loss when that building is finally sold because of all the creativity that happens inside. It's really mind-blowing to see what people are trying (and the mess it makes). Having said that, the...

Cycling and Active Transportation in Edmonton

These missing links are so very important. Nothing worse on a bike than following a nice path/trail/lane and suddenly getting dumped into traffic

ETS Bus and General Transit Improvements

Interesting that staff is raising the idea of fare gates at some stations for council's consideration as one of the solutions.

Cycling and Active Transportation in Edmonton

I was recently thinking something similar - Whyte pedestrianized with bike/bus/taxi/high occupancy vehicle (say 3+) and traffic redirected here. Not sure it would work, but it's nice to dream.

    Transportation Safety and Vision Zero

It is. One downside is that serious injuries and deaths among cyclists is up 17%, the only mode showing an increase and now behind motorcycles in this safety metric.

    Suburban Development and Sprawl

Interesting video on City Beautiful about urban/suburban sprawl and measures cities in the States (particularly Portland) are taking to plan for/contain sprawl.

    Regional Transit

Anyone else feel like me that the EMTSC is failing miserably at posting its minutes and meeting agendas in a timely manner? The agenda for next week's board meeting still isn't up. I suppose it's still a small structure with most activity going on behind the scenes, but it's hard to build a...
