GO Transit: Construction Projects (Metrolinx, various)

Hear hear! My Japanese husband is totally confounded by this as that's usual there. About Unionville specifically, we went there last year by GO and were annoyed the train went to a parking lot 20min from the main tourist area even though it still passes right through the main tourist area and...

    Toronto Toronto | CIBC SQUARE | 241.39m | 50s | Hines | WilkinsonEyre

If up to 10pm then that's about the same as any ol' public park in TO (that parks have closing times was a fact I did not know until a group of friends and I were playing tag in a park one night when I was a teenager and some officers wandered by)

Probably just outside of hours. My friend and I were up there for an hour taking plenty of shots, as were a bunch of other people, and security was friendly to us.

    Cycling infrastructure (Separated bike lanes)

I second DSC's motion to change the thread title.

Understandable, thanks for explaining. Perhaps eventually they could put some small portable kiosks on the north side if ever there was deemed demand. From the mock-up, it even looks like the pedestrian bridge overhangs a bit, but it's not too clear. Knowing Toronto though, we'll likely just get...

Railways overhead don't stop other countries from doing it. I think it'd be nice if there were a series of small shallow storefronts either directly under the bridge (facing east), and/or along the blank walls that face north and south just out from under the bridge.

    Toronto Toronto | Crosstown LRT | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | Arcadis

Though we definitely do have a lot more of a me me me mindset, having a soft "re-certification" process is not a bad idea (which is essentially what having to watch a video & complete a quiz is). Most professions require a certain amount of learning hours to keep one's license, so why not...

Enforcement, but I'd also like to see a system like they have in Japan where everyone has to watch a video about driving safely and rules every time one renews one's license (so once every 5 years or so after your first renewal which is after 1 year I think). This would also help those who got...

Oh wow! This is great news! Thank you for alerting me!

Scarborough interconnected & traffic separated bike network proposal

Did anyone else see this yet? I think it's an awesome idea and we should advocate to it to happen! https://www.utoronto.ca/news/scarborough-could-have-one-world-s-best-road-trail-systems-researchers-say

The Tenor (10 Dundas St E, Ent Prop Trust, 10s, Baldwin & Franklin)

A coffee shop won't change the whole architecture, that's true. I guess I feel the whole square is ugly, so I don't care so much about the exterior, but I really like the open middle with all the escalators going off on different angles.

What would you like to see there instead? I could be happy with something taller and less 90s looking, but I'd still vote for a coffee shop over-looking the intersection.

I don't think the building is "iconic", but neither would I call it terrible. Somewhat reminds me of the vertical malls popular in Tokyo. Actually, if the Winners window area held a coffee shop, the intersection would be like a mini Shibuya crossing.

    Yonge-Dundas Square/Sankofa Square (Brown + Storey Architects)

Thank you! I'll go reiterate my comment over there. Certainly I can agree that disagreeing is fine. 😉

    Yonge-Dundas Square/Sankofa Square (Brown + Storey Architects)

Given that there doesn't seem to be a 10 Dundas St East thread, I hope it's okay that I make a comment about it here. I like the building, but I've always felt it was a lost opportunity to not have a coffee shop using the windows where the Winners is. If there was a coffee shop there, it would...

    Toronto Toronto | Therme Spa/West Island at Ontario Place | 45.15m | 9s | Therme Group | Diamond Schmitt

I agree. I'm not keen on the idea of moving the Therme proposal away from the water as then it would lose a lot of its seamless indoor to outdoor beach charm.

Yes, I'd have liked to see more shops too. It seems retail is disappearing all over the city and not being replaced. I love restaurants too, but sometimes I'd like to buy stuff in the real world and not just online.

    Toronto Toronto | Galleria On The Park | 143.86m | 42s | Almadev | Hariri Pontarini

I agree. I used to take the Dufferin bus north from the Galleria to Yorkdale. It was always packed even close to Yorkdale where the University line runs close-by.

Oh good! Yes, I hope the new proposal capitalizes on using that side more. It could truly be something quite magical.
