They really took my advice from May, last year to heart... I should get credit :D (I just wish they were more ambitious and beefed up their proposal a bit)

I'm all for the Diller Scofidio proposal. Beautiful, well-thought-out, and well suited protect the summer hordes from the sun and offer a reasonable amount of warm space in the winter. Two thumbs up.

It's very much on purpose, a design choice. I think most people here got that.

I actually like your design, Krago. I'd love to see some competition for it, though, we need some debate! :)

For the record, I'm a new Canadian, born and raised in a city with a few hundred years more history than Toronto, and that perspective makes me want to preserve MORE historic buildings and structures than probably the average Torontonian, not less. Please don't lump us all together.

That's precisely the reason why it wasn't sold to the highest bidder. WT has a mandate to build a coherent, mixed-use waterfront, and you don't necessarily get that selling to anybody just because they offer more money.

Someone at the meeting asked, and they said "they hadn't really thought about it" but that it was an idea worth talking about with the City.

I couldn't hear it perfectly, but at the meeting it was also mentioned (I think it was Peter Clewes) that the owners of the brick warehouse immediately south of Clarence Square, and the two-story hardware store/gym attached to it, are interested in redeveloping and/or converting to other uses...

I spent my first night in Toronto there as well. I was awakened in the middle of the night by a very tall Polish guy threatening to punch me because I was sleeping in his bed. Turns out they had double booked it, and they offered me a suite for no extra charge, but I was still shaken and barely...

It's not shown on Google Maps, but the second building also has a great new mural, unveiled about a month ago

I would imagine it's just the first batch of tiles, and that another set of tiles in a different colour will finish the look
