    Toronto Toronto | Eglinton Line 5 Crosstown West Extension | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx

Here's a rendering of what could have been with the original Eglinton West subway proposal from 1993 (this was scanned from the environmental assessment of the project) that I compiled for one of my pet projects. History repeats itself!

    Toronto Toronto | Ontario Line 3 | ?m | ?s

The study "assumed an ICTS technology to provide a framework for geometric planning and environmental impact evaluation", and that "with a limited number of changes in geometry a subway technology could be readily adopted." In the ICTS section of the description of technology options, it...

    Toronto Toronto | Ontario Line 3 | ?m | ?s

The plan studied several different options, including elevated and underground options of the recommended route (Pape Ave. to Eastern Ave. to railway corridor to Front St. to the intersection of Spadina Ave. and Front St.) Here's a plan showing a conceptual elevated alignment at Union Station...

    Toronto Toronto | Ontario Line 3 | ?m | ?s

It's from the Downtown Rapid Transit Study from 1985, a kind of precursor document to Network 2011. The study recommended a subway/ICTS system running from Pape to the intersection of Spadina/Front following Pape Street, Eastern Avenue, the rail corridor, and then Front Street. I actually have a...

    Hamilton Toronto | Hamilton Line B LRT | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx

Mulroney claims the new cost of the Hamilton LRT is $5.5 billion.... What happened?

    Toronto Toronto | Pinnacle One Yonge | 345.5m | 105s | Pinnacle | Hariri Pontarini

It's right behind Tower on Pier 27 in the photo. You can even see the Toronto Star logo.

Waterloo Region Transit Developments (ION LRT, new terminal, GRT buses)

This is what it's like around 5 pm headed southbound just south of Laurier-Waterloo Park station. It's like this around 12-2 pm as well from what I've seen (maybe a little less people). Almost crush load?

    Toronto Toronto | Ontario Line 3 | ?m | ?s

I've read about the TTC testing "high-rate" operations before in the 1980s but I've never found a clear explanation of how it worked out. Does anybody know more about it and if it's ever likely to see something like that return?

    Montréal Transit Developments

Kind of off topic, but does anybody know why the REM project would be considered light rail? The vehicles being used are used on heavy-rail rapid transit lines elsewhere and I can't see an obvious difference between the ones REM will be using and say, the ones the Sydney Metro are using (both...

    Finch West Line 6 LRT

The 1990 TTC ride guide features the "Harbourfront LRT" as an orange line that appears at the same hierarchy as the subway and RT. That's the only time ever I can see that the TTC has branded a streetcar line at the same level as a subway, and the branding did last several years (by 1996 it was...

    Toronto Toronto | Crosstown LRT | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | Arcadis

The first train delivered has "stop request" buttons, as seen in the CBC video of them testing at Millhaven.

    Finch West Line 6 LRT

Seeing that they're switching to the Alstom LRV which is longer, guessing that Finch West won't be able to support two-vehicle-long platforms like originally planned with the Bombardier LRV?

    Metrolinx: Presto Fare Card

The Presto app is currently undergoing testing. Presto Panel was looking for testers but unfortunately I wasn't chosen :(

    TTC: Other Items (catch all)

A new write up on the Transit Toronto website details a planned Christie subway line that would have replaced the northern section of the Spadina subway extension. That's the first time I've heard about it, and I'm guessing if it were built today's Line 1 would look like a squiggly line a bit...

GO Transit: Service thread (including extensions)

Kind of off topic, but I couldn't find a better thread to ask this question. According to this Metrolinx blog post featuring a former GO Transit employee who worked on creating the bilevels, "the trains actually had blue paint when they first rolled out onto the rails, more than 50 years ago."...

Waterloo Region Transit Developments (ION LRT, new terminal, GRT buses)

We're both in planning ;) See you in class on Monday.

Waterloo Region Transit Developments (ION LRT, new terminal, GRT buses)

I'm in Waterloo for school right now and one of our frosh events had an LRT vehicle on display. It's really quite narrow in the passageways between the seats.

    Metrolinx: Presto Fare Card

    Just got my Ottawa card!

Visited Montreal for the first time. Some questions about their Metro system

OPUS sucks. It takes so long to register at both turnstiles and on buses unlike Presto where you can just tap once quickly without having to precisely align the card to the reader. Reloading a OPUS card at home is also impossible without the clunky $16 card reader. Admittedly, I haven't had any...

Waterfront Transit Reset Phase 1 Study

So you're willing to vote for the PC's and watch Ontario's deficit to grow even larger: Just so you save a few dollars? Doug Ford has promised the world: Transit expansion, tax cuts, and not a single cut in services. None of this adds up and just like Bush's "read my lips: no new taxes" line...
