It definitely is pretty significant. For comparison, 299 Campbell now under construction and basically just across the street is 14 storeys. On the other hand, across the tracks to the east the Fuse buildings are 27 and 23 storeys. And a little further on, the Galleria buildings will be...

Would love to see Draper St. change over time to be something similar to the old Mirvish Village where homes were converted into restaurants and small shops. Though maybe zoning will prevent that — gotta protect the multi-million dollar homes of course.

Mattachioni is absolutely fantastic (their Napoli pizza oh my god, their bread, their mortadella, their pepperoncini... so much great stuff), but as someone who lives close to it, the walk to Lasdowne and Bloor is definitely still a bit of a hike, I wouldn't exactly consider it close for a quick...

I've always found the idea of that shared wall to be incredible. The juxtaposition of what's going on on either side of it. Feels like it's right out of a movie.

    213 Sterling Road (window restoration)

I walked by the other night and the lighting they've installed here looks quite dramatic at night. Wish I took a photo!

Absolutely offensive that anyone would consider replacing the current building with this. To own that property and not feel a moral obligation to respect the artistry of those who came before reflects a lack of humanity IMO. They should reflect on what they are contributing to the world — and...

I don't really care what the official tallest building is or if spires are "cheating", but IMO spires are cool and would be sick to have one here. Looking forward to the upcoming spire on The Hub, but another one wouldn't hurt!!

Wow the amount of retail is really quite good! And good to see that the community and the city values small-scale retail spaces accessible to small businesses. With the redevelopment of the avenues putting previous fine-grain retail streetscapes at risk, it's legitimately quite nice to see a new...

This is how we end up with a self-perpetuating cluster of bad buildings. So many buildings in this area completely neglect the streetlevel or are actively hostile, but then if everyone follows that low standard that's been set, it never changes and just gets worse until the entire area is built...

I really don't know what they were thinking not doing this. The potential is clear and redevelopment here could enable an incredible space if done well. It seems like a tremendous lost opportunity, like they aren't even really paying attention to make something good for the neighbourhood (which...

The small site suits residential floor plates I think. I'm not sure an office development would have been viable here given the site size, the cost of land, and the floor plate needs of the large companies who could afford to lease the space.

The Hyatt may be "interesting" architecturally, but it's just as bad if not worse at street level than most of the new buildings in the area. I wouldn't be sad to see it go.

Oh yeah, good idea! Sorry I missed reading that part. And yeah with enough renovation hopefully the humidity/climate control stuff would be doable! Museum of Toronto would be great, and I wish such a thing existed. Unfortunately I kinda wonder if a museum of Toronto would be enticing enough to...

Given that they're literally over top of water, with walls made of windows, and them being kinda old buildings there might be issues with sunlight, humidity, and climate control that could cause difficulty for an art gallery. It's a cool idea though if possible! Very glad to see this stuff...

    Toronto Toronto | 8 Wellesley | Residences at Yonge | 182.15m | 55s | CentreCourt | Arcadis

Condo lobbies are sooo tacky in general to me and their glossy ostentatious luxury is not comforting and homey at all. I don't understand why people would want that as the entrance to their home. It would constantly make me feel uncomfortable and out of place. But to each their own! All that...

Looking forward to seeing the future headline about some rogue UTer scaling the building secretly at night, painting the underside of the balconies themselves.

I agree, I don't like the design of the street level that much, even though I do appreciate the extent of the number of units and how its depicted with the messy urbanism of signage. Hopefully the signage and the fine-grained bones of it will counteract the somewhat sterile beigeness.
