Not true. http://youtu.be/B10rFFlLF3I This was a lone US hit for Platinum Blonde. :) I used to watch Good Rockin Tonite and Video Hits on CBC just to see if they were going to be interviewed. :)

It is sad to think that Canada's talent is based on someone who wasn't even alive when most of these bands were popular. At the very least when Platinum Blonde were young they seldom let anybody tell them which way to piss unlike these young kids now.

Funny you should ask. :) http://youtu.be/os4eWX88OxA And not quite. Duran Duran are new wave and new romantic. Platinum Blonde are new wave and glam rock.

Um no. They were compared to Duran Duran and were nicknamed the "Canadian Duran Duran" but there are several things in common that I can see this band had and Duran Duran had and that is that they were pretty boys like Duran Duran, wore nice clothes, wore a lot of makeup, and they had the mile...

Platinum Blonde, Moist, Skid Row, Men Without Hats.

That's pretty much the way I feel about it.

For me it ends at Lakeshore Boulevard.

Yonge Street=The Rock N Roll Mecha of Canada. And who the hell said anything about porn? I'm talking about bringing back Yonge Street to the Rock N Roll mecha that it was. And some of the patios faced the side streets not the main street.

So Bar Volo is going to be sacrificed? Wow! It seems like such a waste of space.

Okay I was thinking, uh-oh, I think somebody could very easily open up a coffee bar in the back at number 23-19 Dundonald Street. It would be pretty roomy but still it would mean putting the back of the building to good use instead of letting the whole place get so dilapigated.

I don't think anything about Yonge Street's seedy underbelly is going to change unless people start caring about what's going on in their neighbourhoods. At this point nobody cares about anything but making money.

No. The Gasworks was on the south-east corner of Dundonald Street. Crooked landlords shut the place down on 01/07/93 much to the shock of the rock kids and bands who called Doug Godovitz's bar their home...

Yeah but it's not going to be there for very long because that building and everything behind it is going to be torn down up to the parkette.

Are you kidding me? Have you ever heard of Goddo? The Guess Who? Triumph? Neil Young? Those are the bands and artists that put Canada on the map.

That's okay. I have plans to go and see it for myself if time permits. Where the Gasworks and the Domino Klub used to be. I just have a feeling that the landlords who own both of those buildings let it get into a state of disrepair so they could sell the shells to the highest bidder. For me...

Agreed! Being a teenager in the 1990s it felt like I was born in the wrong decade. Because I didn't get to experience the same things that my cousins got to experience.

Oh my. That was where The Domino Klub used to be. It was a very popular night club for the "club kids" to hang out. Mark Holmes from Paltinum Blonde used to hang out there. :) Klub Domino used to be further up Yonge street where the Hard Rock Cafe is now.

What do you mean it kept flipping back from gay to straight?
  19. Celeste

Yonge Street Revitalization (Downtown Yonge BIA/City of Toronto)

There's a reason why I wasn't there myself. It's a little thing called being underage. I was 16 when the place shut down. A little too young to be hanging out at a bar and risk being found out by people who know me.
