This is Toronto, and TD is a bank, and there was no logo on their head office tower last time I checked. The original idea in the 1960s, when TD started the banks' frenzy to fill the skyline with conspicuous International Style head offices, was that the buildings themselves would be the logos...

They couldn't come up with a charismatic leader so the movement petered out and the symbol was abandoned. But we should keep our hands on our wallets just the same.

I like your idea of building along the northern strip. With all the parkland and public space south of QQ, I don't see the need for yet another patch of green here—unless it's to enhance a worthwhile building or two. I'm all for blocking out the Gardiner (on the grounds that it's unsightly) but...

Framing the cladding.

The UnWalMart is pressing ahead. Ten retail companies on their directory led by PetSmart at the west end and BMO at the east end. The developer has thoughtfully provided a bench facing the storefronts so that passersby can kick back while contemplating the future. No takers on a subzero Sunday...

Depends where it is. My point about the library and the other buildings in Jasonzed's picture is that they acknowledged the fact that they were in the area that makes Port Credit unique: the river, as it approaches the lake. The buildings, including the old post office, did not try to upstage...

Great perspective of the area. I wish the new building had respected the height of the library (in the foreground), as well as the harbourmaster's building (in blue on the far side of the construction site) and the commercial buildings at Stavebank, but what's done is done.

The do-over of the Concourse Building has turned out well but I don't understand the enthusiasm for the new tower. To me—chamfered corners and odd angles notwithstanding—it's a graceless, heavy lump.

As a former resident of the area (and a frequent visitor to the AGO), I'm happy to see the transformation of the park...and particularly glad that the direct connection with McCaul St. under Alsop's OCAD pencil-box appears to be imminent, at last.

Obviously one of the most important public buildings in the city. Visually it's vital to the dynamic look of Front St. It pairs up with Union Station and defines the curve of the street. If any developer threatens to mess with that, it'll be time for torches and pitchforks.

Conspiracy theories aside, is it maybe time to acknowledge that Bombardier has finally met a (self-assigned) deadline in delivering the 30th streetcar by the end of the year? Maybe now that they've learned the trick they can keep delivering the damn things on some kind of respectable schedule...
