I agree, though Whitby does have really challenging soil conditions and a high water table so I get why we often see it there specifically. It's especially bad in the Downtown though I'm not sure what the waterfront area is like here. I know it was an issue on some of the projects farther south.

I think for me the massing is OK (personally, I would push the podium down more, and pop up the height on the tower, which would help with shadows) but not great. It's the complete lack of even trying to appear to try to create something that might contribute to the neighbourhood with this one...

KW has made big strides on massing and intensificaiton, but the materials being used are garbage. Walking along Philip Street is like a stucco sample showroom.
