The 1,000 year old demolition comment was clearly tongue in cheek. I can understand why you would disagree with my opinion regarding the warehouses, but there's no need to diminish my views based on the validity of my comment about Europe. Everyone's allowed an opinion, and neither you nor I...

I wasn't replying to your post specifically. I gave my opinion on the warehouses and you gave me yours. Needing to substantiate my personal opinion based on preservation policies is irrelevant.

The original Waldorf-Astoria hotel in New York(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Waldorf_Astoria_New_York) was demolished and the Empire State Building built on top of it. And we are worried about knocking down some warehouses.

I would hope so. Europe has some actual heritage to protect. Toronto was practically just a train stop until 100 years ago. I honestly find it embarrassing that people would care so much about something so meaningless as what is standing on King street currently. Especially when you compare it...

Jesus, this thread is the worst. Just because a building is a couple hundred years old, doesn't mean it needs to be preserved. There are thousand year old buildings in Europe that get razed all the time and nobody bats an eye. Its a bunch of warehouses ffs...

    Pickering Airport (Transport Canada/GTAA, Proposed)

Didnt Transit Canada do a needs assessment last year? If I recall, it said that the GTA needed another international airport by 2025(ish) in order to keep up with demand

Not quite the suburbs. Just spread out more throughout the city rather than all of them being concentrated in a 3 or 4 block radius

    Toronto Toronto | Ripley's Aquarium of Canada | 13.11m | 2s | Ripley Entertainment | B+H

I'm confused... Isnt the Ripleys supposed to be 1.5M gallons? A quick google search says that there are only 4 or 5 aquariums in the world that are more than 1.5M gallons? Who ever said that Toronto's was going to be small?

    Toronto Toronto | MGM-Cadillac Fairview Casino Proposal for Exhibition Place | ?m | ?s | Cadillac Fairview

Am I reading that wrong? It says its going to have 250,000 square feet of gaming space? that puts it in the top 10 in the world in terms of largest casinos...?

While I much prefer the Exhibition site to the convention center site, these preliminary renderings are incredibly underwhelming in comparison to what Caesars put together
