    Toronto Toronto | Spadina Subway Extension Emergency Exits | ?m | 1s | TTC | IBI Group

When was the last time you were on one of those trains? Full seated load with some standees is common during the middle of the day and evenings.

    Sheppard East LRT Renderings

In my mind those are the only things that matter to me as an every day user.

    Sheppard East LRT Renderings

That's amazing. There's bunching even in the renderings.

    Richmond Hill Toronto | Yonge Line 1 North Subway Extension | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx

LOL. Are all of those people boarding at RHC disembarking north of Steeles? How in the world do they reconcile that number with the 4,800 peak point demand in the BCA from a couple years ago? Just by factoring in development they've increased peak point demand by 2.5x?

    Transit City Plan

But an articulated bus wouldn't provide relief for the 401!
  6. P

    TTC: Sheppard Subway Expansion (Speculative)

Face reality. It takes large amounts of time to move from a remote area at the edge of the city to Yonge or beyond. A subway won't fix that. Not that you'd want to extend a subway to a forest.

    Downtown Rapid Transit Expansion Study

Subways subways subways! It may surprise someone from BC, but people in Toronto pay gas, sales, and income taxes too.

    Mississauga Toronto | Hurontario-Main Line 10 LRT | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx

So let me get this straight... Hurontario 2031 projections call for 100,000 daily boardings = LRT is a-okay in your books Sheppard has 50,000 daily boardings now = LRT makes no sense now or tomorrow or even yesterday

    Rob Ford's Toronto

On the floor of council yesterday, Frances Nunziata claimed that the St. Clair Disaster was $100 million over budget.

    Toronto Toronto | Crosstown LRT | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | Arcadis

1,500pph is roughly what the 85 and 190 add up to so...

    Toronto Toronto | Crosstown LRT | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | Arcadis

That's pretty much true for anything outside of downtown. That's why the forecast volumes for TYSSE, RHC, and Sheppard look so bad.

    Richmond Hill Toronto | Yonge Line 1 North Subway Extension | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx

That's a pet peeve of mine. When people misspell the name of our main street. It's only five letters... BTW good luck with the Willowdale station. It was opposed by the local NIMBYs and council was more than happy to cut it to save on budget.

    TTC: Sheppard Subway Expansion (Speculative)

    Have fun in the snow.
  14. P

    Transit City Plan

LRT Cons: 1) Subways also last for 100 years unlike LRT which needs constant replacement every few years. 2) A surface ROW will slow down emergency vehicles. 3) Will have trouble with snow. 4) Will increase congestion. 5) It's a union plot to protect jobs.
  15. P

North Yonge development (York): Is Toronto a "NIMBY" to its northern neighbours?

That's wrong. The TR provides 10% more by TTC estimates. (1100 per train vs 1000 per old trains) The bulk of it is supposed to be gained by increasing frequency which requires 1) Purchasing many more TR train sets. There is ZERO money for this, in fact the 10 train addon in the current...
  16. P

    Transit City Plan

We've never lost any multi million dollar subway cars (married pairs in our case) due to accidents. Ever. For real.
  17. P

Metrolinx: Sheppard East LRT (In Design)

Or as someone pointed out, it's holding them to the same standard not a different and higher one. It's hardly "unfair" to ask for conditions that are bit better than half of what existed before we built the first lines in the middle of the city. If you're going to argue in favour of having...
  18. P

    Toronto Toronto | Crosstown LRT | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | Arcadis

What's higher? The maximum grade that the LRVs can handle or the maximum grade that is allowable to meet accessibility rules for people on foot? How big of a trench will that require? Would this turn the line into a roller coaster ride?
  19. P

    TTC: Sheppard Subway Expansion (Speculative)

The only underground "alternative" is cut and cover construction. If the professional whiners complain about the disruption caused by the St. Clair Disaster, I'd love to see their reaction to a huge trench running down Sheppard for the next 5 years. Cognitive dissonance would be the flavour of...
  20. P

    TTC: Sheppard Subway Expansion (Speculative)

I doubt that very much. It's 10 minutes or more out of the way. If people think LRT is inferior because it will take 10 minutes longer than a subway trip, they'll just get off at Yonge, hair-brained interlining operation or not.
