    Church-Wellesley Village

Both those parklets look great but there's one issue. Neither of those cities get snow. Taking up a full lane of traffic on each side of Church leaves little room for snow removal. Church would end up looking like most side streets after a storm. Not to mention they'd be unusable for half the...

    Church-Wellesley Village

Ah, I see, thus why I had never seen it before. Thanks for clarifying.

    Church-Wellesley Village

Is it just me or are there less holiday decorations this year? Has teh BIA scaled back? Can't say I am a fan of the AIDS ribbon on the corner of Church and Alexander as a new addition. I know it has special significance for the gay community but it seems crass to me. The holidays are not...

    Toronto Toronto | Aura at College Park | 271.87m | 78s | Canderel | Graziani + Corazza

I don't see a large format grocery in there like some have suggested. With Metro and Sobeys in College Park, whcih is attached to Aura, (not to metnion Loblaws and Kitchen Table both a block away) it would be an overintensification of that type of retailer in the area.

    Toronto Toronto | Ripley's Aquarium of Canada | 13.11m | 2s | Ripley Entertainment | B+H

They already have the signs directing people to the aquarium on the Gardiner, so it won't be long now.

Toronto South Detention Centre (132 Horner Ave, MCSCS, 8s, Zeidler)

Just a friendly reminder that the public tours will be happening this Friday, Saturday and Sunday. It will be unlike any other building you've ever toured as part of a doors open style event.

Toronto South Detention Centre (132 Horner Ave, MCSCS, 8s, Zeidler)

I'll be there assisting with the tours. It is the first modularly constructed and LEEDS Silver correctional facility in the province. It's worth the visit, trust me.

Toronto South Detention Centre (132 Horner Ave, MCSCS, 8s, Zeidler)

Hi Everyone, a heads up that this is happening Oct4-6. The Ontario Ministry of Community Safety and Correctional Services is pleased to invite members of the public to visit the Toronto South Detention Centre. This is a unique opportunity to see the province’s state-of-the-art...

Sam's Sign and the Yonge Street Heritage Zeitgeist

Personally, I would have preferred they accidentally dropped the sign when it was removed and shattered it into a million pieces on Yonge Street. To me it always epitomized the tackiness of downtown Yonge and had no value.

    Toronto Toronto | Aura at College Park | 271.87m | 78s | Canderel | Graziani + Corazza

That would be horrendously ugly. ONe of the main knocks against Aura is its lack of uniformity in appearance. Adding even more colours would make it look like visual vomit running down the side of the building.

    Church-Wellesley Village

I just don't get how a shop selling such expensive wares will survive long in that location. Rents are high and while there are some higher income earners in teh area, tehre are a lot of folks who are paycheck to paycheck. I could see a store like that working in Leaside or a similar rich area...

    Toronto Toronto | Aura at College Park | 271.87m | 78s | Canderel | Graziani + Corazza

I assume they'll be using a heavy-lift helicopter to get the mech up that high, right? I can't see a crane being capable of that sort of job.

    West Mall - Markland Wood

Anyone have a sense of where the worst of the flooding was in this area when we had the big storm?

    Toronto Toronto | Ryerson University: Daphne Cockwell Health Sciences Complex | 105.76m | 27s | Ryerson University | Perkins&Will

I would not be shocked if they tried to rope in a big retailer to anchor the project and help defray costs as per the private secotr partner language. Same thing they did at MLG and the Business building. The question is what they might put in there. I bet a toned down version of a big box...

I actually like the bread at MLG Loblaws...I jsut wish they'd have it pre-sliced in teh bag. Having to wait a few minutes to get it sliced is a pain.

    Church-Wellesley Village

They were priced over what I would pay at Kenginston's or at St. Lawrence Market by a fair bit. It's telling when you can go to teh cheese store in the Manulife (Yorkville) and find better prices. I once paid $12 for a piece of cheese there ebcause I was in a rush. I did price comparison...

    Church-Wellesley Village

The cheese shop was nice but dreadfully overpriced. I imagine Loblaws and the wall of cheese killed them.

    Toronto Toronto | Aura at College Park | 271.87m | 78s | Canderel | Graziani + Corazza

I have to agree, that spandrel on teh northern side just before the upper setback is dreadful. Anyone know why they used it there? Run out of the other glass or something?

Aura at College Park Condos (Canderel Stoneridge) - Real Estate -

Looking on Kijiji, assignment sales are listing from 560 -600 for similar units, depending on teh floor. I do wonder how it will be livable with construction ongoing though.

Aura at College Park Condos (Canderel Stoneridge) - Real Estate -

It was a 15th floor 2 bed 2 bath. Given prices for new builds, $600 is not out of the realm of possibility, especially once parking and locker are added in.
