General cycling issues (Is Toronto bike friendly?)

Would also like to see a list of paths that could be upgraded to paved...lots of the rail trails should be upgraded as they are high use and probably the paving would be easier to maintain...

General cycling issues (Is Toronto bike friendly?)

Hopefully they make it a bit more exciting than just...go straight along this concession road for 200km...if they are going to do this, they need to have some over country paths that meander or pass by nice things....connectivity to historical sites is good, paths that cut through farms or...

TTC: Flexity Streetcars Testing & Delivery (Bombardier)

How much of a screw up is it if you miss the boat and have to hire a massive plane to get your parts delivered on time...love to be in that meeting...

General cycling issues (Is Toronto bike friendly?)

They move traffic back in general, which allows for more visibility of stopped cyclists...it also allows for doing a left hook turn (ie. going across the intersection doing a turn in the bike box so you can go straight across when the light changes)- which is often not possible if cars are...

    Toronto Toronto | Lower Don Lands Redevelopment | ?m | ?s | Waterfront Toronto

I think the other thing is that as land values rise it may make sense for the film industry to relocate...when this happens the land will be freed up all at once and a plan will be put forth at that point for the freed up land...no point planning that now as it will be 3-5 decades before it...

    Cycling infrastructure (Separated bike lanes)

    2) Martin Goodman Trail - If made wider and more direct at certain stretches, could double as one, although obviously lower speed than ideal, and a mixed-use trail once it reaches the Harbourfront area. I think in some way there needs to be a MGT bypass through downtown...maybe on the north...

    Toronto Toronto | Queens Quay & Water's Edge Revitalization | ?m | ?s | Waterfront Toronto

Put the bricks back in...let it settle...come back every couple of months and fix them if they are uneven until it's settled...seems pretty straight forward... If you are paying for some guy to come and put pavement down, then rip it up and put bricks down...why not just pay for the guy to put...

    Toronto Toronto | Ontario Place | ?m | ?s | Infrastructure ON

I was down there today...wanted to lie on the grass before the Canadian Geese arrive and ruin it... My feeling is the parking lot on the south side should be redeveloped - with parking on the lakeshore side in a couple of levels, with the south side facing the water commercial (restaurants) and...

    Toronto Toronto | Crosstown LRT | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | Arcadis

This is key to getting the subway projects completed in a reasonable amount of time...all three subways that are being proposed should focus on getting the TBM's ordered - it's even more important than the funding of the entire project. Toronto (and Tory specifically) should be focusing on...

    Metrolinx: Presto Fare Card

I'd be curious to know what the cost of updating the system for all these edge cases is...likewise how many phone calls and refunds they have to do...and what it will be when the system is scaled up. There is a cost to the TTC of having the current complicated transfer system...whether it be...

GO Transit: Service thread (including extensions)

Wish there was a union-to-barrie train on Saturday morning...would love to take my bike up for the day...

GO Transit: Service thread (including extensions)

Minor service issue at Oshawa Go Station...lack of ability to buy food...given there is nothing at all close to the station (maybe 1km to the nearest food), it's super frustrating to show up after biking on the weekend only to find that the kiosk that is open on weekdays is closed on the...

    Toronto Toronto | Lower Simcoe Ramp | ?m | ?s | City of Toronto

Yay! Another monument to being able to build stuff with concrete...only in Toronto would this be worth keeping, instead of some art or a real park...it's honestly like the bridge by the Hoover dam that was built a couple years ago...right in the middle of it is a bronzed Gantt chart...a tribute...

    Toronto Toronto | Queens Quay & Water's Edge Revitalization | ?m | ?s | Waterfront Toronto

This is just crazy... Comparing traffic/MGT along the Lake Shore to the sidewalks in the suburbs is crazy... 1) The amount of traffic is completely different...there is non-stop numbers of cars passing by that location at any one time, vs almost none in the suburbs... 2) they are going faster...

    Toronto Toronto | Lower Simcoe Ramp | ?m | ?s | City of Toronto

Hehe...so now that I've outed all the car drivers ;-) I definitely was saying that all as a half-serious jest...just for reference when we start King St changes, and new bike lanes, and more LRT's - we can all laugh about this little moment we had ;-) I definitely drive that stretch often -...

    Finch West Line 6 LRT

There clearly should be more transparency into the bidding process (by which I mean the progress of the project along the bidding process)...it's been 3 years in the same state, with all sorts of rewrites required...more granularity and visibility into what is happening is needed to make sure...

    Toronto Toronto | Lower Simcoe Ramp | ?m | ?s | City of Toronto

Is anyone really missing this exit? Why don't we just leave it like it is now...by this point everyone has adapted their commute...it's not like they are missing it...it seams like a huge hassle to build a completely new ramp...it will be hugely inconvenient to everyone involved, especially...

http://www.bombardier.com/content/dam/Websites/bombardiercom/supporting-documents/Sustainability/Reports/BT/Bombardier-Transportation-EPD-FLEXITY-Valencia-en.pdf Page 3 - says 3.7 kwh for the flexity outlook with 155 passengers and traffic lights etc as part of the simulation... The power...

TTC: Flexity Streetcars Testing & Delivery (Bombardier)

They actually wouldn't add that much - power pack 2 is 3500lbs - flexity is 103000lbs - so only 3% for the batteries - or it'd be like hauling 25 people around in a trailer behind the vehicle - I don't imagine they would have trouble with this even if it was full...
