    miWay Transit

Great summary drum. I had a midterm exam that conflicted with the first 30 mins, otherwise I would've attended in person. For point #3, I'm guessing the main font will remain a standard colour (be it white or orange) and a section of the sign will show blue/orange. I agree with points #1 and #2...

Hi @drum118 (and everyone else here), are you on the new transit advisory committee? What's your take on it?

    Roads: GTA West Corridor—Highway 413

How would you deal with the 427 interchange (where collector and express are combined)? I ride the 19 through there every week and that section would 100% be backed up.

Waterloo Region Transit Developments (ION LRT, new terminal, GRT buses)

Interesting. I can't comment on the vibes (personally think seats on the ION buses are more comfortable than the seats on the ION trams). I'm a bit skeptical about claims of how LRT generate development (correlation ≠ causation). How much development can be attracted by simply upzoning...

Waterloo Region Transit Developments (ION LRT, new terminal, GRT buses)

How does it compare to the current 302 ION bus? If it's slower, in what way would an LRT represent an improvement? Is the 302 over-crowded or prone to getting stuck in traffic?

    Mississauga Toronto | 70 Park Street East | 131.3m | 38s | Dream | Arcadis

8 levels of underground parking? Steps away from GO? How much is that going to add to the costs and how long will it take to get to the bottom level? Is there no possibility of reducing the size by sharing parking with GO (commuters during the day and residents at night)?

    Mississauga Toronto | M1 & M2 at M City | 197.81m | 60s | Rogers Real Estate | Core Architects

Hi all, I'm not familiar with the M City development. I was wondering if any of it includes affordable units? A quick google search turned up no results.

    2023 Toronto Mayoral by-election

While I feel sympathetic anyone who overstays by 5 mins, why, might I ask, are you so fixated on the "innocent driver"? How frequent, I ask you, is such a driver compared to with one who deliberately evade paying for parking (perhaps knowing that the fine is not much)?

GO Transit: Service thread (including extensions)

To be fair, there is Milton Transit's new Steeles bus. https://www.milton.ca/en/living-in-milton/route_21_steeles.aspx Although it doesn't run on Sundays. There is also 25/29 to Erin Mills and then Square One from Regional Road 25 @ 401, which can be accessed via Milton Transit on-demand (also...

    Metrolinx: Presto Fare Card

98% of Streecars and 76% of TTC buses have new readers installed. TTC is in charge of installation on subway faregates. TTC & Metrolinx are aiming to deliver debit and credit payment in mid-2023.

Dundas St Rapid Transit (Metrolinx, Mississauga, Halton Region, CoT)

From the tender: These specs don't seem conducive towards a pleasant, let alone safe, street environment. In fact, calling this a street is a stretch. In my estimation, if the design speed is 70, then that's the speed people will drive at.

    Mississauga Toronto | 4099 Erin Mills Parkway | 38.6m | 10s | Queenscorp | Turner Fleischer

A lot of comparisons were made to the projects near Port Credit. Apparently, this one is several times more dense (units / acre). To be fair, the site itself is pretty small and it's gonna be filled up pretty tight.

There was a community meeting hosted by the city councilor this past Wednesday at Erindale Secondary School. Glen, an urban planning consultant, represented the developer. By the time I got there the parking lot was full and the auditorium was packed. The community came out in force and were...

TTC: Bloor Danforth Line 2 West Extension(s)

Why is there a(n almost) default assumption that an extension of Line 2 should go to Mississauga City Center? Sure it's got some tall buildings, but as we know, height != density. With the upcoming plans for densification along Dundas, it'll become a linear urban corridor (where public transit...

    miWay Transit

I'm reminded of this quote from a Reddit post in r/urbanplanning. The citizen activists that I engage with end up doing a lot of talking insulated in their own web forums without much of anything translating to policy change. @BhadPetrov @TorPronto A worthwhile idea. If there's not a suitable...

I really appreciate your response drum. From your experience, would it be correct to say that reaching out directly to the miway customer service team (email, Twitter e.t.c) is not effective? You mention the 110 past UTM a lot and I assume that you must've already contacted MiWay about it. Did...

    miWay Transit

Perfectly agreed. I really appreciate the work you did trying to make transit better in this city drum. It's a shame that change seems to happen so slowly (or even going backwards sometimes). Personally, I very much want to get involved but I'm not quite sure how. Do you have any advice how...

Uh oh. This sounds like the precursor for the #8 moving to Cawthra station, which would be really bad for people using that route. Also not sure why bus bays are needed at Central Parkway Station. Maybe it becomes terminus for #53? Would that have a significant negative impact on riders?

Tolls, Road Pricing and Congestion Pricing

Cool fact: I read somewhere that this actually did happen in a South Korean city which decided to tear down it's urban expressway. Not only was there no ensuing traffic mayhem, pollution was greatly reduced and property values in the area skyrocketed.
