You've illustrated my my point yet again. Scout it out and appreciate it? I grew up across the street from it and had many a conversation with my architect father (who produced many of his own modern, suburban gems not unlike it) about the very house you bring up, as well as a couple others in...

Superiority complex n. 1.An exaggerated feeling of being superior to others. 2.A psychological defense mechanism in which feelings of superiority counter or conceal feelings of inferiority. You fit the description to a T. You admit it too. You admit you have a mental disorder. I don't...

The DuBois building is atrocious. I'd simply say I don't like it, but the fact adma's been yammering on and on about it, compels me to be a little more direct with my chosen adjective. It's a poorly designed, even more poorly executed pile of bland, concrete crap. I think it's cute, adma, that...

Quite oddly, one of my favourite shows when I was a kid was something called Night Moves/Walk/Ride, which was shown in the wee hours of the morning on Global. As a St.Catharines boy, it really kicked off my fascination with the 'Big City' which culminated in my moving there in the mid-90's...

    Evocative Images of Lost Toronto

I'd like to think that this song was blaring through those loud speakers... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H-1wKJLtyjk ...and the two gentlemen were conversing thus... "It's-ah not a bad song, eh? "Not-ah too bad, not-ah too bad."

Wouldn't they just go back eventually and join all the pieces with concrete? After they're finished with the construction elevators I mean.

The whole, 'Uh...' thing is so condescending, so I'm glad you gave it back, MetroMan.

I don't know if that's what they're attempting, but it'd be nice to see the entire wall covered in some slow growing, creepy, crawly vegetation a la Wrigley Field. And talk about a great graffiti deterrent.

If steveve received a dollar for every exclamation mark, he'd have enough for the largest penthouse in this building. :p

Most of the criticisms have been about specific elements (the dreadful, very visible east wall, for example) which will not change when this thing's complete. I think that's totally justified.

Check out her friend - Captain Waddle With Coffee - and his stupid laugh. I love how she looks at him right after she does her little routine as if to ask, "That was funny, right?!"

Toronto Celebrating: Blue Jays '92 and "93 and Argo Grey Cup celebrations...

I was 17 in 1992 and living in St.Catharines. I remember that as soon as the final out was made, we decided to drive into Toronto. The Gardiner was backed up quite a ways (this must have been close to midnight) with cars totally stopped and people walking around on the Expressway. Downtown was...

Pacific Mall Expansion + Hotel (Living Realty, 19s?, Petroff)

Very cool. This is quite the corner. If any of you are in the area, I have to suggest Chung King Garden (located in the strip mall across from the Pacific Mall) and their szechuan shredded beef. They opened a restaurant on Spadina years ago, the second incarnation of which was a favourite of...

Anyone here know how they're attaching the cladding to the building? I find it kinda fascinating but all I see are brackets (if that's what they're called) and the actual stone/glass pieces.

Regardless of what Traynor may have said in the past or where he might be coming from with his criticism of you, he's absolutely right.
