The third highest floor in the photo is the penthouse, correct? Nearly twice as tall as the next building around, it's really interesting to see this monster (in a good way) become one of the most visible skyscrapers in Toronto. While I'm not a huge fan of the cladding on the lower floors...

The marketing strategy for this project is quite amusing (and slightly obnoxious). Its light and tongue-in-cheek approach make it my favourite advertising campaign for any Toronto condominium.

Alright, translucent. I was afraid that they would be using totally transparent glass on the balconies, which would severely diminish the building's undulating appearance when viewed from afar.

Everyone is going crazy over the first piece of balcony glass…I would like to join you. Also, who brought up that they might be using small, flat panels instead of a single curved pane? I really hope that doesn't happen...

I agree! I also keep River City 3, Parade, Exhibit, Core, Totem, Pier 27, and of course Theatre Park on my "Condos that aren't crap" list. While it's a shame that they aren't more visible on the skyline, we've being seeing a considerable influx of more architecturally interesting smaller...

    Toronto Toronto | Aura at College Park | 271.87m | 78s | Canderel | Graziani + Corazza

The website for the penthouse says 79 because they skipped 13, right?

Exactly, and who says that tall buildings can't also create a vibrant streetscape?

Phase 2 continues the design quite nicely! The pedestrian space between the building could turn out very well. http://urbantoronto.ca/news/2014/03/triumph-developments-launches-howard-park-condos-phase-two

Since the city was complaining about the floor plate size on M+G, I wonder how they will reconcile the large, open office floorplates into the smaller spaces required for condos inside the twin towers. One of the earlier graphics indicates that the towers will be mixed use...

    Toronto Toronto | Alaska | 30m | 10s | Bianca Pollak | aLL Design

The Gansevoort Hotel in the distillery is a particularly good example because the city approved two normal box-with-balconies tower on top of heritage structures (which also happen to be taller and more dense) less than a block away. City planners do care about design, and are eager to crush...

They have or currently do care about design when it comes to projects like M+G, 43 Gerrard, and the now dead Gansevoort Hotel.

It's horrible that it is not just an attitude, it is an official policy of Toronto's planning department.

    Toronto Toronto | Forma | 308m | 84s | Great Gulf | Gehry Partners

Reading the cit report again, I noticed that they not only want to make the towers shorter, but shrink the floor plate size as well. Is that because precieved inadequate spacing between the buildings? Aura has a much larger floor plate (20,000 square feet) than any of the M+G towers.

The CN Tower has tiered pricing for its two decks because the Skypod is the size of a shoebox. It really can't hold more than 20-30 people comfortably. If it was included in a single ticket price, more people would be inclined to go, but the lines would be crazy.

I had a huge argument on the Oxford Place forum page trying to argue just that.

With the casino gone, the 250m+ hotel towers will drop out as well, making it less crowded. Side question, will the twin towers contain condominiums as well as office space? This says the twins will be mixed use: http://www.skyscrapercenter.com/toronto/oxford-place-east-office-tower/14704/

I have received messages from some very indignant people on this forum due my "bumping" of threads, which most of the time were comments to ask how a project was getting on, rather than wade through pages of confusing comments. I like to apologize before when commenting sometimes to anticipate...

That question created so many thoughts that I simply cannot reply with one simple sentence. Here are the list of them: -For me, running the view OF the CN tower is far more significant than running a SMALL PART of the view FROM the CN Tower. The former is something these towers simply do not...

City Hall will not be blocked, first of all. The middle layer in my graphic was pretty inaccurate. Well then I disagree with many Torontonians and tourists.
