GO Transit: Construction Projects (Metrolinx, various)

I respectfully disagree, but I will concede that no one is perfect and gets it right every time, myself included! I agree, and interesting points. However, North American railways do not use the imperial system, they use the US Customary (USCS) system, which is somewhat moot since the...

GO Transit: Construction Projects (Metrolinx, various)

Because people are stupid (or one might say that it's due to tradition, but both are often one and the same). It was a huge endeavour to change all road signs/markers to metric, and would have been easier by comparison to change the rail network over. The number of US-originating trucks, each...

    King Street (Streetcar Transit Priority)

Respectfully, I think you are inventing a problem that wouldn't exist for the city. Land parcels are defined by area and not by parking spaces. You can refer to your local land survey for reference. Perhaps you are thinking of Torontonians with "parking pads", however they are leasing part of...

    VIA Rail

Darn. Thanks for the info though!

    VIA Rail

My dad is taking VIA Toronto-Ottawa. He is hoping to try out the new Siemens train, and I am wondering if anyone knows how to determine which corridor services are on the new trainset. Train 52 departing, train 59 returning.

    Finch West Line 6 LRT

Haha well no, but I know you are joking ;) I think Finch West should just be called Line 6, or maybe LRT Line 2: Ontario's Revenge (for that Botched Bombardier Streetcar Order, But We Have Faith that Things are Definitely Going to Work Out Much Better with the O-Train LRVs). But I think that...

    Finch West Line 6 LRT

Opinions are subjective, but why do you dislike the name O-Train? I think it's clever. The O stands for Ottawa, and it simultaneously works well for Ottawa's bilingual character and population as << au train >> in French.

Speaking of Pape station, I have been trying to figure out from the OL website exactly which building(s) on the Danforth is/are going to be expropriated by ML. From what I can tell, the station house may avoid the need to knock down the Eton House dive bar but will knock down the building where...

    Toronto Toronto | Union Pearson Express | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | MMM Group Limited

UPX site currently states: SERVICE ALERT: For the remainder of the week, UP Express service will be operating a 30-minute train service. Trains will serve all stops. We appreciate our customers’ patience during this time. Does anyone know if, once the brake discs have been fixed, service...

    Montréal Transit Developments

That's a huge delay of 3-5 years depending on which timeline you start from. I wonder if YYC will end up with rail service before YUL at this rate 🤷‍♂️

GO Transit: Construction Projects (Metrolinx, various)

Does the cancelled hearing indicate that negotiations resumed, or is it more likely to just be that it's been postponed for whatever reason?

    Toronto Toronto | Ontario Line 3 | ?m | ?s

Finch West reached financial close at the end of the last Liberal term, YUSSE had recently been completed. Many of the projects you're crediting to the current provincial government are still unfunded, or were cancelled by them in their hyper-partisan tear-everything-down phase, only to be...

    Toronto Toronto | Ontario Line 3 | ?m | ?s

The University-Spadina side of Line 1 doesn't have the capacity issue that the Yonge side does. PC's are extending Line 1 (Yonge) to Richmond Hill. The OL and RL are a wash. RL was delayed by OL, nothing precluded it from being extended. The OL sure as heck isn't open yet, meaningful GO...

    Toronto Toronto | Ontario Line 3 | ?m | ?s

I quite like the renderings for the OL trains. As far as the Azur, it's a very nice design but with Bombardier out of the picture I don't think we'll be seeing many trains like that anymore. Alstom's designs are trash - even if they release a modified MPM-10 for another city, I'm sure it'll...

    Toronto Toronto | Ontario Line 3 | ?m | ?s

Absolutely, the OL delayed the RL, which was moving ahead quickly. I am happy we are getting the line eventually, but to the forumers simping for Ford, it shouldn't be because of this project.

    Finch West Line 6 LRT

No one is disputing that security is a concern on transit. All you need to do to end this back and forth, and to back up your point, is to actually post the data to which you're referring (i.e. the surveys and the 10x increase in incidents that you mentioned).

    Finch West Line 6 LRT

There's a correct superlative for "most bad" (the worst). Anyway, how do you propose we listen to riders? A Doug Ford-esque cell phone number that the TTC gives out? The TTC should do better than their current complaints process by exposing case status milestones and letting people vote on...

    Toronto Toronto House | 186.53m | 58s | Allied | Hariri Pontarini

That's why. I don't want rampant value engineering to be "our own thing". Once again though, I was pointing out how good 19 Duncan looks, because it wasn't value-engineered like its neighbours.

My comment has nothing to do with the number of skyscrapers in either city. It is about the quality. Melbourne's skyscrapers are head and shoulders above ours in this regard, and so are those of many other cities, Chicago and NYC included.
