Thoughts on this floorplan? (wacky inside)

As long as there's another floor as part of this, it's one of the least wacky floorplans I've ever seen. Looks like a pretty standard second floor townhome layout to me.

    Toronto Toronto | 629 King Residences (was Thompson Residences) | 53.34m | 15s | Freed | Saucier + Perrotte

It was definitely the most intense city planning meeting I've been to. Freed was there for the presentation, as were many people from 32 Stewart, which appears to be receiving the brunt of the negative consequences of construction. It was quite awkward as people would say "certain developers"...

    Photo Of The Day

This is awesome. Where is it?

    Post a good floorplan!

Yeah, I've never been a huge fan of the den as it is in your layout. It's hard to make it a really useable space because of the whole "front door opening into your den" thing. I have a ton of books, so I would probably use shelving to create a library with a desk integrated into the shelving. I...

550 Wellington West (Freed Developments) - Real Estate -

We used Aileen's (sp?) for our place and it was absolutely seamless from purchase to installation. Not sure how they'd be for a group buy, but I highly recommend them.

How small can condo units in Toronto get?

Different strokes for different folks I guess. Finishes and a walkable urban location are far more important to me than square footage. And I assume that many others in the downtown core feel the same way based on what's selling.

    67 Portland St. Condo (???,???,8s)

There is a public consultation about this on Wednesday, so we'll know more details then for sure. I thought this might be that hotel proposal that was going to destroy Bar Wellington, but it appears this is different. At least the Welly is safe for now. From Adam Vaughan's newsletter...

How small can condo units in Toronto get?

Yeah, that first one especially. Obviously the rooms are tiny, and they shouldn't be calling these lofts, but you could totally make this layout work with a living and dining area. Whether someone could really live in the second bedroom without a closet is another question. But if you were a...

    Toronto Toronto | Tableau Condominiums | 124.05m | 36s | Urban Capital | Wallman Architects

I noticed this building is on the schedule for an upcoming planning meeting at the end of the month. While the thread says Urban Capital/Malibu/Alit, 29s?, Core, I'm pretty sure I've seen a TAS logo haphazardly placed on the building at this site. Has there been anything out there recently...

How about ads and previews before movie showtime?

I just returned from seeing Avatar, and I'm pleased to say there were absolutely no commercials OR previews. It was so unexpected that I actually was tuned out for the first minute or two of the movie as I just assumed it was a trailer for something. I did, however, get to see a ridiculous...

550 Wellington West (Freed Developments) - Real Estate -

Actually walked by this last night and noticed that myself. I stand corrected. Although I did notice that a lot of units on the Wellington don't face the park, but towards other units (east/west facing units). Also there looks like some people's balconies are almost touching, and if someone was...

    Toronto Toronto | King East Centre | 140m | 39s | First Gulf | WZMH

It's an absolutely massive lot for downtown. Looking at this photo, it's approximately 3 times the size of St. Lawrence Market. You could build multiple condos in that space. BTW...my favourite Sun headline was the day after Anna Nicole Smith passed away: FEMME FATALITY.

550 Wellington West (Freed Developments) - Real Estate -

In fact, this is probably one of the better views at 550 Wellington. Almost the entire Stewart St. side and most of the lower units on Wellington have views that are fairly obstructed. Is there already something proposed for the Lot between Zed and 20 Niagara?

    Glass buildings and window coverings.

I'm pretty sure that Glas came with window coverings. I don't have any photos, but when I walked by the other day, I remarked about how nice it looked with uniform window coverings throughout. I think all buildings should do this...people can always put their own curtains or whatever inside...

New "naked scanners" coming to Pearson Airport

Except that when people know this is happening to them, they'll end up displaying nervousness and anxiety because they are scared that they are being looked at like they are a terrorist. And the actual terrorist trained in manipulation gets by no problem. I think this will just be another case...

New "naked scanners" coming to Pearson Airport

I'm usually very suspect of new technology that could infringe on privacy, but I actually think these are great - as long as there's proper oversight. I'd rather have some person in some booth somewhere see underneath my clothes than get patted down and have my underwear searched in front of...

    Toronto Toronto | Casa | 147.52m | 46s | Cresford | a—A

The reaction may have been largely related to this: If you had simply stated a preference for one building and how it fits in to the neighbourhood, I think most would have simply agreed to disagree. But suggesting the level of taste, sophistication and intelligence of the Casa-lovers is...

Toronto Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport | ?m | ?s | Ports Toronto | Arup

My concern about jet engines wasn't actually directed towards Porter. I think the use of "jets" in that Star subhead was improperly used as a substitute for "planes." My bigger concern about jets is when Air Canada and Continental get in there. I imagine they'll want to use jets in place of...

Toronto Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport | ?m | ?s | Ports Toronto | Arup

I live by the waterfront, but have supported the Island Airport as a small alternative for a local regional carrier. But flying 120 flights out of this airport a day is ridiculous. I even think adding other carriers is too much. If they keep one carrier (Porter), reasonable operating hours...

'Absolute bedlam' on Pearson's busiest day

Wow, I can't remember the last time I read a National Post opinion column and found myself in such agreement with it. This is spot-on.
